APPROVED GUIDELINES
Conduct of OJT in the time of Pandemic
TREY 3
research
Introduction
On-the-Job training (OJT) for students and practice teaching is the culmination of the four-year
academic formation of the students. It is in these exposures that the students will be able to apply the
knowledge and skill that they have learned inside the classroom, and the opportunity to learn new
things from the environment of the work place they are exposed to. In the University Manual, all the
academic subjects should already been taken and passed before a student is allowed to enrol in the OJT
or practice teaching. These should be the last subjects to be enrolled by the students prior to
graduation. However, with the present crisis that everybody faces today due to the pandemic, there are
issues and problems met by the students with the enrolment of OJT and Practice Teaching, specifically
with regard to grades. In order to address this concern, this guideline is proposed.
TREY 4
research
Objectives
The main purpose of this guideline is to provide clear course of action when a student will enroll for OJT
or Practice Teaching in the second semester of AY 2020-2021, of which there is still the pandemic.
TREY 5
research
Guidelines:
1. Because of the pandemic, a student may be allowed to enrol OJT or practice teaching even if
he/she has yet no grade of the subjects taken in the 1st and 2nd semester of AY 2019-2020, and 1st
semester of AY 2020-2021.
2. All subjects taken prior to AY 2019-2020 must have grades for a student to be allowed to enrol
OJT/Practice Teaching.

1. OJT, Student Teaching and Field Study
A. Guidelines for OJT, for the 2nd Semester of AY 2020-2021
Introduction
On-the-Job-Training (OJT) is a subject to be enrolled by the senior students of the university that
have been greatly affected by the pandemic. This subjects is an important learning opportunity for the
student because this is where they can put into practice the concepts that they have learned inside the
classroom. By being fielded in the different industries, the students will be able to test the theories that
were introduced and at the same time widen the horizon of their knowledge. However, due to the
pandemic, the fielding of students to the industries is suspended. However, with these subjects being
offered this semester, there is a need for a guideline to properly implement the OJT program.

A. Guidelines for OJT, for the 2nd Semester of AY 2020-2021
Objective
The main purpose of this guideline is to provide the college deans, department heads, OJT
Coordinators, faculty and students as to how the OJT, will be implemented in the 2nd semester of AY
2020-2021.

A. Guidelines for OJT, for the 2nd Semester of AY 2020-2021
Guidelines
1. As a general rule, the university will wait for CHED issuances pertaining to the conduct of OJT. Until
the guideline will be released/issued by CHED, no physical activity will be allowed. Physical activity
means fielding or assigning of students to industries including the school premises and in the local
community.

Guidelines
2. Host Training Establishments (HTE) in hometowns. Students will be deployed to selected
industry/training establishments located within their hometowns provided that these HTEs are
implementing stringent health protocols set by the government. However, if the village/barangay
where the Intern is assigned declares local transmission, the Interns will automatically be pulled out and
will be sent home. The HEIs may give Work from Home activities related to the Intern’s assignment
before the declaration. OJT coordinators shall strictly monitor student trainees to ensure not only the
performance but the safety and security of the student trainees. TREY 10

3. Flexible Mode of Internship. A flexible mode of internship maybe applied in conducting OJT. It will be
a combination of case study/research activity and physical training in selected HTEs in their hometowns.
The case study/research activity will be done in the first few months and will compensate 50% of the
required number of OJT hours. The remaining 50% is for physical training which is to be done in the end
or latter part of the semester. OJT coordinators shall make sure that case study/research activity will
compensate knowledge and skills that may be acquired in the industry. Format and rubrics for
evaluation will be provided by the OJT Coordinator. TREY 11

Technology and other related programs provided that they can secure possible HTEs offering this
scheme.

5. OJT Uniform. On-the-job trainees will not have OJT uniforms. Instead, they are to wear their school
uniform and corporate attire for their on-the-job training. Having OJT uniform will impose additional
financial burden to the students and to the parents during these difficult times.
