Community Deworming

Deworming involves giving anti-helminthic drugs to remove worms and their eggs living in the digestive tract. These drugs treat different types of worms including roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and pinworms. Regular deworming is recommended for children aged 1-2 years every six months, children over 2 years every six months, preschoolers, school-aged children, adolescents, pregnant and lactating women, and special populations like food handlers. The drug dose and frequency varies by age group, with albendazole and mebendazole being common options. Proper hygiene and regular deworming can help prevent worm infections.
