Environment Pollution
The undesirable change in physical chemical and
biological characteristic of our air, land and waste.
Different Types of Pollution
Air Pollution
Water Pollution
Soil Pollution
Noise Pollution
Air Pollution
Air is mixture of
various gases such as
Oxygen, Carbon dioxide
and Nitrogen .we
breathe in air around
us. it must be clean and
fresh.
Sources :-
Man is polluting the air
by his activities.
By burning wood and
coal.
The vehicles emit
poisonous gases.
Air pollution is also
caused by forest fires,
and decay of organic
matters.
Harmful Effects Of Air Pollution
Air pollution affects respiratory system of Living
organisms and may causes lung cancer.
The harmful gases present in the air combine with
droplets of rain and produce acid rain . This acid rain
causes damage to buildings made of marble eg Taj
Mahal at Agra.
Due to depletion of ozone layer UV radiation reaches
the earth. UV radiations causes skin cancer and
damage to eyes.
Some measures to check
Air Pollution
We should not burn dung cake, wood or coal instead
cooking gas and smokeless chulhas should be used.
More and more tree should be planted so that the
mixing of dust with air may be Stopped.
The vehicles should be checked regularly to make
sure that they do not emit poisonous gases.
Factories should be away from residential area.
The spray of insecticides on the crops should be
minimized.
Water Pollution
Water is said to be polluted when
there is any physical biological or
chemical change in water quality
that make water Unsuitable for
use.
Sources :-
We are polluting this water by
dumping garbage into the rivers.
The waste from the industries is
being thrown into rivers.
The insecticides,chemical
fertilizers are being washed by
water also pollute water.
Harmful Effects of Water Pollution
Polluted water becomes unfit for drinking and
may cause diseases like jaundices, diarrhea and
cholera.
Sometimes the oil tankers carrying petroleum
develop oil leakage in the oceans. This affects the
aquatic life.
Some measures to check
Water Pollution
Garbage , industrial waste should not be thrown
into rivers and lakes.
The industrial waste should be treated before
throwing into rivers.
There should be no leakage of oil from oil tankers
into the oceans to save the aquatic life.
The insecticides and chemical fertilizers should be
used with care so that they are not drained off into
the water.
Soil Pollution
Soil is polluted
due to solid
waste.
Sources :-
Solid waste
generally comes
from houses,
cattle shed,
industries .
Solid waste
include things
such a ash,
glass, peeling of
fruit and
vegetables,
paper, clothes
Harmful Effects Of Soil Pollution
The cutting of trees led to soil erosion.
The excessive use of insecticides, pesticides and
chemical fertilizers effect the living beings.
Dumping of garbage such as plastic articles and
polythene bags made the soil infertile.
Some measures to check
Soil Pollution
The garbage should only be thrown at proper
places.
We should avoid the use of plastic articles and
polythene bags.
There should be limited use of insecticides.
Pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
Trees should not be cut down, instead more and
more trees should be planted to stop soil erosion.
Noise Pollution
Noise means unwanted
sound.
Sources:-
The sound of factories,
trains and vehicles has
harmful effects on our
ears.
The frequently blowing
of horns and listening to
loud music pollute our
atmosphere.
Harmful Effects Of Noise pollution
Noise pollution can deafen us.
It can cause Hypertension.
It not only disturb the human being
but birds and animals also.
Some measures to check
Noise Pollution
We should have a habit of keeping radio,
television and music system at low volume.
We should avoid the unnecessary blowing of
horns.
The use of loud speakers in public places should
be restricted.
Always make a habit of speaking softly instead of
shouting.
