Vinod Kumar Shukla
Vinod Kumar Shukla was born on 1 January 1937
in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. He is known for his
style that often borders on magic-realism in
literature. His works include the novels namely
Naukar ki Kameez, Deewar Mein Ek Khirkee Rahati
Thi & Khilega To Dekhenge; short story collection Per
Par Kamra and poem collections Lagbhag Jai Hind,
Vah Aadmi Chala Gaya Naya Garam Coat Pehankar
Vichar Ki Tarah & Sab Kuch Hona Bacha Rahega. He
won Sahitya Akademi Award and PEN/Nobokov
award for his terms of service.
Habib Tanvir
Habib Tanvir (1 September 1923 – 8 June 2009) was
one of the most popular Indian Urdu, Hindi playwrights, a
theatre director, poet and actor most known for his work
with Chhattisgarhi tribals, at the Naya Theatre, a theatre
company he founded in 1959 in Bhopal. He wrote plays
namely Agra Bazar, Charandas Chor, Gaon ka Naam
Sasural, Mor Naam Damad & Kamdeo ka Apna Basant
Ritu ka Sapna. During his lifetime he won several national
and international awards, including the Sangeet Natak
Akademi Award, Jawarharlal Nehru Fellowship, Padma
Shri, Kalidas Samman, Sangeet Natak Akademi
Fellowship, the Padma Shri, & the Padma Bhushan.
Pt. Sundarlal Sharma
Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (21 December 1881 — 28
December 1940) was a key figure in the independence
movement from Chandrasur, Chhattisgarh. His
composition Danleela Ch. is the first arrangement of
poetry. He published the monthly magazine Dulrava while
his imprisonment in the Raipur jail.
Sant Dhani Dharmadas
Dharamdas was an Indian saint, Bhojpuri language poet
and one of the disciples of Kabir better known as the
founder of Chhattisgarh. He like his master was known for
his work in Dohe and Chaupai.
