Product and Process Design
“Process design is at the heart of operations management (OM). It is the process of creating and
improving systems that convert inputs into outputs. Process design involves understanding how
work is done within an organisation and then designing and implementing ways to improve it.”
5
PRODUCT DESIGN OF DIAS.WORKS
◈ Belonging to the service sector, Dias Works essentially works as a ‘One for all, All for One’
platform in the Management Information Systems field.
◈ It acts as a stepping stone for startups and a solution-driven force for established organizations.
◈ “dias.works was born out of a single idea, the idea of a solution driven by clients rather
than a solution driven by the providers interests”.
◈ It is Joint Venture company between two established entities DWI.agency and EAAS
Works, DIAS Works has already managed to dole out some very meaningful solutions for
the clients’ problems.”
6
“We take a lot of pride in “solutions” and
that’s one thing our clients love us for.
Some of our solutions in government sector
have not only been adopted heavily and
respected equally by users and reviewers,
but also have won us awards at a national
level for being ruthlessly meaningful and
clear.”

Work Study and Productivity
“Work study is a generic term for those techniques, method study and work measurement which are
used in the examination of human work in all its contexts. And which lead systematically to the
investigation of all the factors which affect the efficiency and economy of the situation being reviewed,
in order to effect improvement.”
11
12
◈ Being only 4-5 years old, Dias.Works has kept it close and tight knit. But it is not unknown that they
have grown by leaps and bounds since their establishment.
◈ As a result, the amount of work that this team is usually carrying is very unevenly distributed. At each
stage on one project, only a single person or two people are burdened with everything that is to be done
as is seen in the above illustration.
◈ Though it shows that every member is highly committed and tries their hardest to establish benchmarks,
this might lead to a feeling of being overwhelmed, non-productive and a constant self-doubt on the
quality of work being done.
◈ In short, being pulled in a hundred different directions with no seeming direction is very mentally taxing
as told by one of the employees.
13
However, a few Productivity Hacks have been implemented..
◈ Organized Communications: Social media and email aren’t just conveniences to DIAS. They’re crucial parts of their
everyday tasks. Getting their social media organized so that everyone can check all of their accounts in one place is a
huge step in the right direction when it comes to productivity. And they do this by using the Asana App.
◈ Tracking their Time: “Time is our most precious resource and, yet, it gets away from us so easily. We remedy this by
using time tracking software. While this might sound unappealing for those who like to “free work”, it’s not as restricting
as it sounds. Our team can be as flexible as they need to be when tracking time – the result will still be more free hours at
the end of the work day.”
◈ The Two-Minute Rule: If they see a task that can be done in two minutes or under, they make sure that they don’t delay
it, but do it right away. If a task takes two minutes today, there’s a big possibility it will take more tomorrow.
Implementing this rule has shown that the workload is decreasing and the employee’s productivity increasing.
14
“
“In a digital world that we live in, 24 hours a day are
definitely not enough to handle all the job responsibilities,
especially when your job description itself is in the Digi Space.
When you have your work in your pocket all the times, getting
overwhelmed and completely consumed by it can get very easy.
So, how can you leave your work at the office where it
belongs? ”
