FITNESS
To be physically fit means to be
able to adequately and efficiently
perform physical demands of the
body. Physical fitness can be easily
understood by analyzing its
components: the health related
components and the skill related
components. These two
components of physical fitness will
help you find out how fit you are

HEALTH
RELATED
COMPONENTS
1.CARDIORESPIRATORY
ENDURANCE (CRE)
It is also referred as cardiovascular endurance, which
measures how well the heart , lungs, and muscles
can function when doing physical activities from
moderate-to high intensity levels like performing
exercise in an extended period of time.
2.MUSCULAR STRENGTH
It is the ability of a muscle to lift and move objects in a
single maximum force like push and pull.
Squats, lifting weights, push ups, sit ups
3. MUSCULAR ENDURANCE
It is defined as the ability of a given muscle or group
of muscles to do repetitive contraction against a
fixed object for an extended period of time without
reaching fatigue. This can be expressed in executing
multiple repetitions of any physical activities.
Planking, Burpees, Lunges
4. Flexibility
This refers to the capacity of the joints or group of
joints and muscles to move in a full range of motion.
Gymnastics, acrobatics
5. Body Composition
it is described as the measure of body fats in relation to fat-
free tissue and lean body mass. This component of physical
fitness can help in determining one’s fitness status by
indicating potential weight problems like obesity or being
obesity or being underweight, both of which may lead to
some lifestyle diseases like cardiovascular diseases and
diabetes
Sit ups, jumping jacks, push ups
If all these HRF components
are in good condition, then the
body can perform more
efficiently and has more
resistance to common
diseases.

FITNESS (SRF)
COMPONENTS
1. AGILITY
Is described as the ability to change direction
and move your body position quickly while
maintaining your balance.
For example, in boxing, having an excellent level
of agility is an advantage because it will help you
confuse your opponent and dodge his/her hook,
uppercut and jab.
2. Balance
Is a term used to describe the ability to control body
position while standing or moving. An example is
doing an arabesque on a balance team.
3. SPEED
can be described as the ability to move
swiftly from one point to another.
There are some sports that require this
fitness component like swimming, running,
and even team sports like basketball to
gain an advantage over your opponents.
4. COORDINATION
Is the body’s ability to produce a smooth
and accurate movement simultaneously.
For example, in basketball, dribbling skills
require a player to improve his hand-eye
coordination.
5. REACTION TIME
Is described as the time needed to quickly
respond a stimulus. For example, in a
combative event like arnis, a player must
quickly anticipate and react to his opponent’s
attack and counter it to get the point.
6. POWER
this refers to the ability of the
muscles or group of muscles to apply
maximum force in the shortest
period of time. Power is a
combination of both speed and
muscular strength. For example, if
you want to excel in Taekwondo this
is one of the components of fitness
that you need to develop because it
is important in explosive kicks and
punches.
“PHYSICAL FITNESS IS NOT ONLY ONE OF
THE MOST IMPORTANT KEYS TO A
HEALTHY BODY, IT IS THE BASIS OF
DYNAMIC AND CREATIVE INTELLECTUAL
ACTIVITY”.
-John F. Kennedy
