Board

Games
Evaluation
By Timi Yusuf
Theme of Game
 This game was about
running obstacles and
players could jump and
dash their way through
the board utilizing game
pieces. Players collect
cards to improve their
cars and make them run
or jump over obstacles.
What ideas did you specifically
think of?
 For this game, I gave a lot of specific ideas to improve the strategy and replay-
ability for that game on its overall end. This included things like move forward
and backward cards which enable players to move closer to the end or
backwards when needed for strategical play. I also designed the swap with
players ability: players would be able to swap places with another person on the
board, which made for crazy turns and could completely change who was winning.
 I also created the hurdles pass, a responsive effect that allows players to get
over hurdles and obstacles, thereby creating an immense means of capitalization
if executed correctly. Mechanics were created to add in layers of depth, surprise,
and fun to the gameplay, which will keep players both hooked as well as scared.
From playtest was the game fun?
 Although no experience is final, the ones we had based on the playtest sounds good
and fun. The constant momentum of the gameplay was appreciated by players,
especially with move forward and backward cards, which allowed them to
choose next-to-come steps well in advance. The swap with players mechanic was
also rated fairly highly, as it did surprise people and made movement interesting on
the board.
 The hurdles pass mechanic hyped it up—there was so much tension whenever you
had to jump over something. This gave a feel of completion and progress. By and
large, these constituents shape an enjoyable and strategic gameplay experience
that can surprise players to keep them engaged. That said, some balance and
pacing tweaks may be necessary to guarantee a seamless experience for both
casual and hardcore players.
What skills does it help build?
 Strategic Thinking: Players must carefully plot their plays, determining whether to proceed or
retreat, and how to optimally employ their cards and capabilities to circumnavigate the board
and outmaneuver opponents with perplexing plans.
 Problem-Solving: The emergence of barriers and bottlenecks necessitates players think critically
about how to overcome imposing challenges, particularly when exploiting the hurdles pass or
swap functionalities to attain an advantage.
 Adaptability: With the unexpected shifts induced by the swap mechanic and the randomness of
card draws, players necessitate promptly adjusting to transforming circumstances, dynamically
modifying their strategy on the fly.
 Risk Management: Players must evaluate the risks and rewards of their maneuvers, such as
when to leap over a hurdle with haste, when to interchange places with another player using
surprising stratagems, or when to move forward or backward along the elaborate and ever-
changing board.
What has been you favorite improvement
you’ve made to the games
 The best improvement was the addition of light and heavy chance
cards as this made sure that you got a card even though you
passed the space of chance cards.
How is your game upholding social interaction?
Is it competitive or team-building?
 It is a competitive game, In a game that stresses competition, battle
and strategy between rivals prevail. Moving cards to swap places with
other players, Going forward and back... all contribute to this febrile
atmosphere filled with its heady derivates, when each player
continually looks for how they can get ahead of their competitors and
give themselves an edge. This constant threat of sudden moves makes
for exciting moments of involvement between players. It also creates a
positive and dramatically competitive environment. This is a game
thrives on an atmosphere of competitiveness. It is surgical for those
looking for a spirited challenge.
Have you ensured it is a satisfying
game?
 Essential measures are in place to make confident the game is fulfilling, and these
include balanced gameplay through mechanics such as hurdles pass and the forward
and backward cards furnishing just opportunities for each player. Active player
involvement results from engaging elements like trading roles with players, which
encourage strategic decision-designing. With clear goals, like contending to the
conclude line, players can experience a sense of purpose and gratifying progression.
With diverse strategies and card combinations accessible, the game offers assorted
experiences that help keep players engaged. Cordial competition encourages banter
and sociable interaction, designing the experience even more delightful.
Uninterrupted improvement of the game is enabled through the gathering and use of
player feedback taken from playtesting. The cooperative elements together
contribute to a fulfilling and delightful experience for players.
Are your rules simple or complex?
 The game's rules are made to be both simple and captivating. The
elementary components of the mechanics are simple, crafting the
experience approachable to people of all ages. Players can initiate
gameplay swiftly without immoderate introductory explanations.
The game's rules, though straightforward, possess a layer of
complexity scheduled to diverse card mechanisms that
necessitate attentive consideration and dynamic responses. The
gameplay accommodates diverse skill levels, providing a
customizable experience that maintains player engagement and
challenges them.
Main positive and negative
feedback
 Elements like hurdles and player swapping brought tactical depth
and excitement through interactive features. The sense of fairness
and competitiveness in gameplay made for a satisfying
experience among players.
 Negative feedback was that the game's heavy reliance on random
elements like card draws and dice rolls often led to unpredictable
results, leaving some players feeling frustrated.
Did you feel you all worked well as
a group?
 The team worked exceptionally well together throughout the
game development process. Everyone actively shared ideas,
feedback, and suggestions, creating a collaborative atmosphere
where each member felt heard and appreciated. Whether it was
design, mechanics, or playtesting, every person brought their
unique strengths and perspectives, which added a lot of value.
This diversity in skills really helped shape the game’s mechanics,
making them well-rounded and thoroughly thought out.
What have you learned from the task? If
given more time what would you improve?
The key learning was collaboration: Bringing together diverse perspectives and skill
sets greatly boosted creativity and problem-solving.
If given more time, we could focus on the following:
1. Refining Rules: Simplifying and clarifying the rules to make the game less confusing
for new players.
2. Enhancing Interaction: Introducing more chances for direct competition between
players to make gameplay more dynamic.
3. Balancing Luck and Skill: Tweaking the mechanics to reduce the reliance on luck
without losing the thrill.
4. Pacing Adjustments: Streamlining the flow of the game to avoid any slow points
during play..
Did You use your time well?
 Yes, we made excellent use of our time throughout the game
development process. We laid out a clear timeline with specific
milestones, ensuring each stage from brainstorming to playtesting
was well-organized and kept on track. By prioritizing tasks based
on their impact on the game's quality, we could focus on the most
critical aspects first, like mechanics and rules. We also held
regular meetings to review progress and tackle any challenges,
making sure everyone remained aligned and any issues were
quickly addressed.
