operating systems, more popularly known as
mobile platforms.

Windows Mobile
• Developed by Microsoft. Initial release: April 19, 2000.
• Designed for Pocket PCs, smartphones, and portable
media centers.
• Replaced by Windows Phone, which later evolved into
Windows 10 Mobile.
• Known for its integration with Microsoft Office and
other Windows services.
Palm OS
• Developed by Palm, Inc. Initial release: March 1996.
• Early pioneer in the mobile operating system market,
primarily used in personal digital assistants (PDAs).
• Known for its simple user interface
• Eventually replaced by webOS.
BlackBerry OS
• Developed by BlackBerry Limited (formerly Research In
Motion). Initial release: January 19, 1999.
• Known for its strong security features and physical QWERTY
keyboards.
• Popular among business users for its email and messaging
capabilities.
• Replaced by BlackBerry 10, which later transitioned to
Android-based devices.
Symbian OS
• Originally developed by Symbian Ltd. and later maintained
by Nokia. Initial release: June 5, 1997
• Dominant mobile operating system in the early 2000s,
especially in Europe and Asia.
• Known for its multitasking capabilities and energy efficiency.
• Gradually phased out in favor of newer operating systems
like Android and iOS.
iPhone OS (iOS)
• Developed by Apple.Closed-source, with strict
control over the operating system and its
updates. Initial release: June 29, 2007.
• Uses the App Store for app distribution.
• Exclusively available on Apple devices such as
iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
Android OS
• Developed by Google. Open-source and highly
customizable, with a vast ecosystem of devices
from various manufacturers. Initial release:
September 23, 2008.
• Uses the Google Play Store for app distribution.
• Known for its flexibility, wide range of hardware
support, and large user base.
