『 Where are the
MEMS?
MEMS Sensor 1: Wii Remote 』
ADXL330 Accelerometer: by Analog Devices
- Used to send accelerations
on x,y,z axis
- Mostly used during games that
reguire movement
『 Where are the MEMS ? 』
MEMS Sensor 2: Nunchuck
LIS3L02AL Accelerometer: by
STMicroelectronics
-Used for the same reasons
as the Wiimote
『 Where are the MEMS ? 』
MEMS Sensor 3 : Wii Motion Plus
Gyroscope:
-Used in the WM+ to add additional functionality
-Allows Remote to capture complex motion more accurately
-Includes 2 different types of gyroscopes:
-Dual axis tuning fork gyroscope (InvenSense IDG-600):
measures pitch and roll
- Single axis gyroscope (EPSON TOYOCOM X3500W):
measures yaw
『 CONCLUSION 』
The Wii is indeed revolutionary, and it's potentially the
device that will make videogaming as widely enjoyed as
board or card games.
One thing is sure, the MEMS are here to stay. They are an
integral part of the technological landscape and
manufacturers continue to want to include them in more
and more products, because they allow to easily add
important features or just fun attracting the curiosity of the
general public.
