REFRIGERATOR

Presented by

Refrigerator
• Refrigerator is large container which is kept cool inside, usually by
electricity,so that the food and drink in it stays fresh.
• Principle:
• Refrigerator works by causing the refrigerant circulating inside them to
change from a liquid into a gas
PROCESS FLOW
TYPES OF REFRIGERATOR
• Compressor Refrigerator
• Dual compartment design
• Absorption Refrigerator
• Peltier effect refrigerator
• Ultra low temperature refrigerator
Compressor Refrigerator
• The most broadly utilized refrigeration cycle strategy is mechanical
pressure . It has applications in both cooling and business and
mechanical refrigeration .
• The fluid refrigerant bubbles at 40 degree faranheit on the low weight
side and assimilates warm from the warm indoor air.
• On the high weight side of the framework, the warmth goes from the
110 degree faranheit Vapor refrigerant to the cooler open air,and the
procedure rehashes.
Dual compartment design
• Refrigerator with two compartment need special design to control the
cooling of refrigerator or freezer compartment. Typically this
compressor and condenser and condenser coils are mounted at the
top of the cabinet, with a single fan to cool them both ,these
arrangement have a few downsides:each compartment cannot be
controlled independently and the more humid refrigerator air is
mixed with the dry freezer air.
• A few manufacturers offer dual compressor models.these models
have separate freezer and refrigerator compartment that operate
independently of each other sometimes mounted within single
cabinet.
Absorption Refrigeration system
Peltier effect refrigerator
• The peltier effect uses electricity to pump heat directly:Refrigerator
employing these system are sometimes used for camping, or in
situation where noise is not acceptable.
• The can be totally silent ( if a fan for air circulation is not fitted)but are
less energy efficient than other methods.
Ultra low temperature Refrigerator
• Ultra cold or ultra low temperature ( typically -80C or -86C) freezers as
used for storing biological samples , also generally employs two stages
of cooling , but in cascade.
• The lower temperature stage uses methane or a similar gas as
refrigerant with its condenser kept at around -40C by a second stage
which uses a more conventional refrigerant .
Continue…..
• For much lower temperature laboratories usually purchase liquid
nitrogen , kept in Dewar flask , into which the samples are
suspended .
Compressor
Refrigerator usage
• Food storage:keep perishable items like meat, dairy, fruits and
vegetables.
• Beverage chilling:store and chill drinks like water, soda and juice.
• Store cosmetics and skincare products:keep products like
creams, lotions serum cool to maintain their effectiveness.
• Freeze food: freeze meat, vegetables and leftovers for long- term
storage.
• Maintain humidity:some refrigerator come with humidity control
features to maintain optimal humidity levels.
Medical uses
• Storing vaccines:Refrigerators maintain the optimal temperature for
vaccine storage ensuring their effectiveness.
• Medication storage:temperature sensitive medications like insulin,
antibiotics,and anaesthetics require refrigeration.
• Blood and plasma storage:Refrigerator store blood and plasma at the
correct temperature for transfusion.
• Organ preservation:Refrigerator helps preserve organs for
transplantation.
• Storing biological samples:Refrigerator store biological samples like
blood, urine, and tissue for laboratory testing.
Continue….
• Storing pharmaceuticals:Refrigerators store temperature sensitive
pharmaceuticals,ensuring their potency and effectiveness.
• Storing medical isotopes:Refrigerator store medical isotopes used in
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Cryopreservation:some refrigerator can cool to extremely low
temperatures, allowing for cryopreservation of cells, tissues and
organs.
Preventive Measures
• Regularly check door seals for leaks:ensure the refrigerator maintains
the proper temperature.
• Defrost the freezer periodically:prevents ice build up and maintains
efficiency.
• Keep the condenser coil clean: enhances cooling performance and
energy efficiency.
• Ensure proper ventilation around the Refrigerator:prevents
overheating and prolong appliances life.
Care and Maintenance
• Clean the interior and exterior regularly:wipe down surface to remove
spills and stains.
• Replace water filters as need:ensure clean water and ice.
• Check the adjust temperature settings periodically:maintain optimal
food storage conditions.
• Inspect and clean the drip pan:prevents mold and unpleasant odours.
