direction of self-improvement.
Impression
Management:
Who I am and
A first impression occurs in a
situation when one person first
how people
meets another person and an
instant mental image and
know me!
impression of that person is
formed based on a wide range of
characteristics such as their age,
race, culture, language, gender,
physical appearance, accent etc.
First impression formed in a
matter of seconds and is very
difficult to change once it has
been made. This initial
impression will also govern an
interaction between the parties,
so making a positive first
impression is vital.

Within seconds of seeing a

person for the first time we
decide their:
• Etiquette
• approachability &
friendliness
• tone, pitch & pace of
voice(38%)
• appearance & body
language(55%)
Etiquette
We should always do five things when
meeting someone – look them in the
eye, give a firm handshake, greet them
by name, say own name slowly and
clearly; and smile.

Approachability

Maintaining good relationship in all

aspects of our lives, be it work or personal
is the best way to show how approachable
we are. And it will start with a big smile of
courage.
Friendliness
Friendliness is the quality of behaving in
a pleasant, kind way towards someone
& that will make an impression about us
how we are as a person.

Tone, pitch & pace of

voice
Speaking in calm voice, low pitch and in slow pace
with articulate word will represent a person how
understanding he /she is. And that will make others
comfortable to talk to the person.
Appearance &
Body language
When a person walks into a room or
building ,one of the first things we
notice is what they are wearing. The
way a person dresses can tell us a lot
about them and their personality.
Making eye contact and adopting a
ready facial expression when
approaching someone is the best body
language to express your interest in
others. When you show interest in
someone, they will frequently show
interest in you. Having a good
impression about someone or to know
somebody all these impression are

3.A company that uses attractive models in their
