A German word which is used in English. doppel double (look alike) ganger goer (move from one place to another) A doppelgnger is a ghostly double of a living person. A doppelgnger can be seen by its owner. It comes to its "owner" to give messages about danger or to offer advice.

Goulash (plural: goulashes) is a soup or stew of meat, noodles and vegetables (especially potatoes), seasoned with paprika and other spices.[1] Originating in Hungary, goulash is also a popular meal in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and the north-eastern Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is one of Hungary's national dishes[2].
Paprika is strongly associated with Hungarian cuisine. They use in dishes such as chicken papirkash and goulash. It is used in many spiced meat products like Spanish chorizos. Many Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish recipes use paprika for soups, stews and casseroles.

SETTING
The novel starts off in the modern day, icy-cold January Monday evening. The story spans over a period of two years and covers three consecutive 18 Januaries. PHYSICAL SETTING
The story is set in Budapest in Hungary. The main character, John Taylor, and his wife, Andrea, live in a flat in the Thirteenth District. His office is located at Vaci utca. Number 7 Felka utca - The incident of him stumbling upon his doppelgnger happened in front of number 7 Felka utca. The bar is owned by Zsolt. Bar at Gergely utca - where he sees the doppelgnger disappears. The street was flanked by nineteenth and early twentieth century flats that were run down and were ridden with bullet holes from World War II or perhaps the 1956 revolution.
