Mark Cunningham Form: Chemistry Project

The pH scale measures the acidity or basicity of water, ranging from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. An imbalance in pH levels in the body can lead to negative health effects, and maintaining a balanced pH can be achieved through dietary and lifestyle choices. The document also lists various substances and their corresponding pH levels, illustrating the scale from strong acids to strong alkalines.

Starting off, What
is a PH?
• In chemistry, pH is a measure of
how acidic/basic water is. The
range goes from 0 - 14, with 7
being neutral. pHs of less than 7
indicate acidity, whereas a pH of
greater than 7 indicates a base.
pH is really a measure of the
relative amount of free hydrogen
and hydroxyl ions in the water.
How does pH work in the body?
• pH indicates the level of H+ ions, where low pH indicates too many H+ ions and high
pH indicates too many OH- ions.

• How can an imbalance in Ph effect your body?

• If your body becomes too acidic, or alkaline it can lead to negative effects such as
sleepiness, fatigue, headache, loss of appetite, confusion, and vomiting. You can
reduce the chance of this happening and have a balanced pH by

• Reduce or Eliminate harmful acidic foods from your diet. Sugar.

• Choose healthier acidic foods.

• Increase alkaline foods to 70% of your diet.

• Incorporate alkalizing lifestyle choices.
