Using picture Communication
1
Introduction
• Pictures are accompanied by words –
at least title in words or description in
words.
• The words themselves use calligraphy
– a picture form using styles and
colors. Then still pictures have been
converted to moving pictures adding
movements in the picture.
• This had made possible to build
stories in a sequence. ‘Comics’ is an
effort towards this.
• Then we started moving pictures
drawn in terms of animation. The
example of this is Walt Disney’s
pictures.

ERA of Multimedia Mix
1. Sales literature comprising leaflets, brochures, manuals, packaging and
advertisement.
2. Administrative uses such as letterheads, printed forms, visiting cards and all types
of publishing material.
3. Directive signs and symbols – communicating by replacing words
4. Demonstrating sense of reality by photographic methods.
5. Increasing understanding through process and product features such as in part list,
service manual etc.
6. Add aesthetic look by ornamenting paper work
7. Adding movement and using animation, films, music and methods mostly as stand
alone entertainment and in sales aids.
8. Make communication facile by good combination of words, voice and pictures like
in power point slide presentation.

Sales literature
• Sales literature means material published, or designed for use, in a newspaper,
magazine or other periodicals, radio, television, telephone solicitation or tape
recording, videotaped display, signs, billboards, motion pictures, telephone
directories (other than routine listings), other public media and any other written
communication distributed or made generally available to customers or the
public including, but not limited to, prospectuses, pamphlets, circulars, form
letters, seminar texts, research reports, surveys, performance reports or
summaries and reprints or excerpts of other sales literature or advertising to
include publications in electronic format. Examples are product data sheets,
brochures, presentations, case studies, newsletters, white papers, video demos,
and websites

Branding
• Brand communication is a combination of activities such as advertising, social
media and reviews that are used to communicate with customers.
• Brand communication takes place every time a potential customer or client
interacts with a particular brand. It could mean seeing a logo online or signing up
for a newsletter.

Sales Advertising
• Ad Sales is the process of selling advertising space to advertisers.
• This can be done directly, through an advertising agency, or through a variety of
online and offline channels.
• Many small and medium businesses (SMBs) use Ad Sales to generate awareness
for their products or services.

Photography
• The ease with which now pictures can be taken has made it a convenient media
to communicate.
• With the digital camera the whole chemical process is avoided and one can
instantly see picture and use it on computer.
• Now we can make albums of such photograph and show it with ease like a slide
projector. Not only any of these photographs can be printed and can be used for
print media.
• The whole process has become so seamless that from taking photograph to its
reproduction has become an easy and quick process.
• I know of a company which uses its mobile cum camera as a convenient tool to
photograph every customer and send the photograph to him.
• Thus they are now maintaining pictorial directory of their contacts.

Power point Presentation
• Microsoft office has introduced software for presentation in the name of Power
Point and it has become so popular that it is used as a common name for
presentation material combining words, colors, pictures to make effective
presentation through use of projector.
• These are generally used as supporting presentation for a talk and as such even
lecturers are using this.
• The projection is bright and bigger than original so that number of people can
view it at the same time.
• The points and examples which you are talking about can be shown on projector
along with picture illustration to impress the audience.

WWW - World Wide Web
• One can make a permanent display of our organization and product, related
news in words and pictures on site reserved on World Wide Web through
internet.
• This is a site one can view from anywhere in the world. You can reach a big
audience across the distances within real time.
• The advantage you can speak in pictures, words and movies at the same time.
Once you reserve a space one can go on updating it in all respects.
• Even Government is publishing examination results on a web so that large
number of students who are having their own computers or go to visit cyber café
and see it. It has avoided long queues redundant and have made you available at
door steps. Now one can sale and purchase on web site. Not only this but one
can even arrange payment through web site. One can know how many people
have visited site. One can also give links to other important sites which will
enable viewer to visit competitors and compare or supporting information one
requires for purchase.

Video Display
• Video compact disk has made it possible to record audio video shows or movies
in portable form and which can be viewed on your home computers.
• Many book publishers are giving compact video disk as supporting material for
books and in future most of technical manuals will be served in this form.
• It requires less space and can be used when one requires that too on computer.
In future the printed media may be distributed in video disk media. Libraries
have already started giving recorded disk on rent.
• The books are being produced in reading form so that we can just hear without
reading. Thus technologies are making it possible to see movies at home
