Problem statement.
• Good governance performance is the instrument of political, economic and
administrative authorities to manage a nation’s affairs. Good governance
performance is therefore a compartment of governance, wherein public
capital and problems are managed effectively, efficiently and in response
to vital needs of society. Good governance as expressed through factors
like reliability, predictability, functioning of markets, operation of private
firms, strength of civil society, and welfare of communities and
accountability is increasingly seen as a key factor in ensuring national
prosperity. However, many aspects of the relationship between good
governance performance on socio-economic development such as
misconception about good governance, lack of security and corruption,
Mogadishu Somalia.

• In Mogadishu Somalia there is little policies for social and economic ~ development

nor are there any laws governing the administration of government enhancement

public consumption, the nature an administrative requirement of good governance

performance may be poorly understood both by the ministries and the members of

civil servants besides that the general weakness of accountability and luck of

transparency are the challenges of good governance in Mogadishu, Somalia. But

more importantly, the society is not received required services like education, health

and security to promote of socio economic development, due to poor governance

performance that exist in the country, this negligence brought to led down

socioeconomic development in Mogadishu, Somalia.

• Therefore the researcher decides to find out the relationship between good

governance Performance on socio-economic development in Mogadishu, Somalia .


Objectives.
• General objective.

The main objective of the study is to investigate Good governance


performance on Socioeconomic Development in Mogadishu -
Somalia.
• Specific objective.

The specific objectives of the study are:

1. To determine the profile of respondents in terms of age, gender,


level of education and marital status.

2. 2. To find out the relationship between good governance


performance on socio economic development in Mogadishu,
Somalia.

3. 3. To examine the consequences of bad governance performance


on social & economic conditions in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Significance of the study.
• This study will be useful to the Somali government in order to
implement and practice good governance performance in the
country that will be of benefit to the whole the country not
only Mogadishu, Somalia. The researcher hopes that the
study may form a basis for further researcher on the
contribution of good governance performance on socio
economic development in Mogadishu, Somalia The findings of
this study may also be useful to Somali leaders and policy
makers to promote the strategies for implementing of good
governance performance on socioeconomic development.

Research Design.
• The research design of this research is a mixture of
quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative research seeks to
collect facts about a phenomenon (figure, counts) without
including people’s opinions. These facts are then analyzed
quantitatively to reach at the conclusion of the study. On
the other hand, a qualitative seeks to understand a
phenomenon from the opinions and perspectives of the
respondents.

• Research Population.
• This study mainly will be focused on communities such as
Civil servants, Civil society, and community members in

• The target population is the population to which the researcher
ultimately wants to generalize the results. Therefore, the target
population of this study will be 100 respondents Civil servants, Civil
society, and Community members, in Mogadishu-Somalia. Snow ball
and purposive sampling will be used. The researcher will use semi-
structured questions to Sample is a portion of the population whose
results can be generalized to the entire population. The sample size
will consist of Seventy-eight (80) respondents from 100 population
using Sloven’s formula. This sample will be sufficiently high and
representative enough to validate the findings from this formula; the
sample will be calculated as flows.

Research instrument.
• The primary data collection techniques of this study were in
questionnaire form. Questionnaire form is simplest ‘tool’ for
collecting and recording information about the research
findings and presentation in particular issue of interest to
investigate. Researchers selected this method because it
will give the researchers opportunities to meet face to face
with respondents and will explain the purpose of this study
easily, also will help them to fill the questionnaires
accurately and on timely.
Sampling procedure.
• The sampling procedure of this study is used non
probability sampling procedure particularly purposive
sampling or judgmental sampling. The research will select
this sampling technique because it gives the opportunity to
choose the member target populations who provides the
accurate information or data. Judgmental Sampling is a
non-probability technique where the researcher uses his
judgment to select from the population members whom he
feels will give him the desired or accurate information.
Data Analysis.
• This section addresses, processing and analysis the data been

collected from the field. The data was collect through descriptive

analysis. The data will collect from the study area, edited, collated

and tabulated by researchers in assistance with supervisor. The

research data have been collected by using in questionnaire form of

closed ended research scale will used to measure the output of each

item answered by the research respondent in the Mogadishu -

Somalia. SPSS statistical computer software will used to analysis

and tabulation of data for further interpretation and publication of

the findings. (SPSS Version 16.0).


Ethical consideration.
• Researchers employed the ethical issues during research
period and data gathering and accomplished by exercising
privacy status, confidentiality and anonymity of the
respondents. Any anonymity and confidentiality of secret
information gave high priority and this study strictly keeps
the collected information and only academic purposes are
used. Moreover, the researchers respected to maintain
individual self-confidence to openly respond and share with
his experiences to young researchers. In addition to that,
the young researchers avoided any racial or tribal linkages
or tendencies to get accurate and reliable information on

• The researcher prepared the following conclusions that related to
findings of the research report. The first research objective or
research question were if there any relationship between good
governance performance on socio economic development in
Mogadishu, the findings of the study discovered that good
governance has major contributed to the development of the rest
of socio-economic sectors in the country. However, the results of
the study shows that the whole civil servants’ been taking part the
bad governance performance which led in destruction of social
development, but the responsibility of that bad things have taking
the government workers.

a lot of consequence of lack or bad governance
performance which caused corruption fraud and
embezzlement, on the other hand public lost their
confidence of government institutions. In the last twenty
years the Somali people has faced many problem because
they haven’t been applied the principles of good

political riots and conflicts where the publics are the prime
victims of bad governance performance the most publics do
not able to purchase occur drips and even they don’t have

put forward;
