As a BA4- QPS Analyst at Barclays, your main focus will be on the development of quantitative portfolio strategies across major asset classes for large global institutional investors. This includes central banks, sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, pension funds, endowments, insurance companies, and hedge funds. The QPS Group's research areas include optimal allocation of portfolio risk budget, diversification requirements, investment style studies, alpha generation, smart beta strategies, benchmark replication and customization, as well as bespoke projects for fixed income investors. Some research findings by the QPS Group have become standard practices in the industry, and they have also introduced analytical measures like DTS (Duration Times Spread) and LCS (Liquidity Cost Scores). Key Responsibilities: - Take ownership of Barclays QPS quantitative models. - Assist senior quant analysts in maintaining model datasets for the monthly production process. - Work on custom projects across multiple asset classes involving time-series analysis, statistical inferences, and analyzing large datasets. - Monitor the automation of quant models, handle exceptions, and act as a point of contact for Technology teams. - Improve and maintain existing quantitative models, conduct quantitative analysis, and empirical research on model-related issues. - Take initiatives to enhance quant libraries as high data quality is crucial for research and smooth production of quantitative models. - Collaborate with senior QPS Analysts to build research datasets for new projects. - Present analysis to senior stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. - Drive timely production of quantitative scorecards, signals, etc. by handling model production, monitoring automation jobs, investigating, and escalating to Tech support in case of job failures. - Conduct rigorous checks to avoid publishing erroneous data and mitigate reputational risks for Barclays. Qualifications Required: - Experience with BA4- QPS Analyst role. - Academic or on-the-job experience in quantitative research or statistical model development. - Skills in statistics, econometrics, including time-series analysis and cross-sectional techniques. - Solid programming skills in at least one coding language such as Python, R, or MATLAB. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team. - Strong interest in learning about financial markets with no prior knowledge required. Joining Barclays as a BA4- QPS Analyst will provide you with the opportunity to work within the Global Research function, supporting QPS US research and production activities.
