As a Mechanical Engineer at Fourier, you will play a crucial role in the design, assembly, testing, and optimization of our on-site Hydrogen electrolyzer system. Your expertise will contribute to our mission of transitioning the global energy landscape towards a sustainable and emission-free future.
**Roles and Responsibilities:**
- Design and build prototypes and product encasing to ensure efficient operation.
- Create detailed designs of mechanical structures and assemblies, collaborating with manufacturers for production.
- Select optimal hardware components from external suppliers, such as sensors, pipes, and valves.
- Develop and maintain Balance of Plant cost/Bill of Materials for accurate tracking.
- Assess failure modes related to thermal, structural, electrical, chemical, and fluid interactions.
- Implement problem-solving techniques and risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the assembly and setup of benchtop test rigs, prototypes, and production units.
**Qualifications:**
**Required:**
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in assembling mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in designing and building structures using 3D CAD and/or 2D drawings.
- Experience in developing cost-effective solutions for mechanical systems.
**Preferred:**
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with gas and/or water piping, FMEA, energy system analysis, hydrogen or similar gases, mechatronics, and designing enclosures for electromechanical systems.
