Cutting Without a Silhouette Cutting Mat: 3 Steps to Set Up Silhouette Studio and CAMEO

There are several reasons why you may want or need to cut without a Silhouette cutting mat.

How to Simultaneously Cut Different Materials on Silhouette CAMEO 3 or 4

Did you know the Silhouette CAMEO 4 (or any other model) can cut different materials on the same cutting mat.

This could be different finishes or thicknesses of the same material like flock HTV and smooth HTV or it could be two totally different types of material such as paper and vinyl.

When to Mirror Adhesive Vinyl for Silhouette Projects

Mirroring, simply put, is when you flip your design backwards in Silhouette Studio before cutting it out. This is most often done with heat transfer vinyl and usually not done when using adhesive vinyl (like Oracal 651).

Now of course there are always exceptions, like some patterned HTV that doesn't come on a carrier sheet that shouldn’t be mirrored, and believe it or not, there are actually some exceptions with adhesive vinyl as well.
