Cutting vinyl decals for coffee mugs is popular with Silhouette crafters, but there's one big question that people often ask.

Today I'm going to share 7 tips for adding vinyl to wine glasses so it's straight.

Tips for Cutting, Weeding, and Placing Tiny Silhouette Designs

If you've ever tried to cut a really small design on your Silhouette you know it's not always the easiest thing.

Vinyl lifting off the backing and paper tearing are among the chief complaints. Cutting very small and delicate shapes is something the Silhouette can definitely handle, but it can be a lot less stressful - and let's face it, less wasteful - if you follow these few tips for success.

Layering HTV Without the Bulk (Beginner Silhouette Tutorial)

So one color heat transfer vinyl isn't doing it for you and now you want to layer multiple colors of HTV? You've come to the right spot!

This beginner Silhouette tutorial will walk you through how to layer HTV in the current version of the Silhouette Studio software (V4).  It builds on Heat Transfer Vinyl 101 and multi-color HTV so be sure you're up to speed on them before you continue here, because this Silhouette tutorial on HTV will assume you know the basics.

How to Put Vinyl on Wood Cutting Boards

If you're looking for a quick and easy gift a custom wood cutting board with vinyl doesn't get much easier or make a bigger statement.

I love putting vinyl on wood cutting boards and always make sure to use the hinge method to ensure the vinyl is straight and centered.

Layering Vinyl When the Vinyl's Not Actually Layered (Apple Word Art Pt 2)

I previously showed you how to design a custom apple word art with students' names in Silhouette Studio...and today I'm going to show you how to cut and layer that design.

The same process applies to any layered adhesive vinyl design, so don't worry if you don't have an apple.  If you're a beginner, don't be scared by the number of steps here - you know me: I just break everything down into simple easy to follow steps!

This is one of those cases where filling the design elements with the color vinyl you are going to cut on is not only helpful, but necessary.  In this method of layering vinyl, we're going to use layering registration marks and the Cut By Fill color.

Silhouette Gift Ideas! 2020 Wish List (And Why Shopping This Year is So Different)

As I've done every year for the last several on Silhouette School, I'm sharing a Silhouette Holiday Gift Giving Guide!

Whether you're looking for craft gift ideas for yourself or want to drop a hint or two to Santa...our 2020 Silhouette Gift Guide should be helpful.

This year holiday shopping - for Silhouette, craft, and pretty much all other items - is going to be different. The pandemic has created a massive divide between supply and demand..which is not only impacting availability, but could also impact the traditional holiday sales.  With what's expected to be even more online shopping than in previous years, significant shipping delays are also expected.  So here's my best advice...

2019 Silhouette Gift Guide: Give (and Get) the Best Craft Supplies!

It's time for our 4th(!!!) annual Husband's Ultimate silhouette Gift Giving Guide. If you've been around Silhouette School awhile you know, every year before the holidays we put out a Silhouette gift guide. Call me an enabler, call me an elf, call me on Christmas morning when you got what you WANTED!!!

Now here's the awesome part...like last year, with the 2019 edition of the Ultimate Husbands' Silhouette Gift Giving Guide we're able to point you to our favorite retailers and also to a public Amazon Silhouette Wish List (super cool)...and we're able to keep on adding when we find more awesome stuff (like on (pre, pre, pre) Black Friday!)

In fact I've already been sharing deals because Black Friday has seemed to turn into Black November...

Two that are definitely worth pointing out is the brand spankin' new Build Your Own Silhouette CAMEO Bundle AND the  $299 pre Black Friday CAMEO 4 Bundle deal which is $40 off what it normally sells for. This price is BETTER than Black Friday pricing when CAMEO 4 bundles will be $30 off their regular price. So if you want this one - grab it because the deal expires Saturday, November 23 at 11:59pm est.

Now back to the helping out Santa...

2018 Silhouette Gift Guide (And Printable 'Dear Santa' Letter)

Every year before the holidays we put out a Silhouette gift guide. Some of you have called me an enabler....I prefer helper. I'm helping him (or her)...get you the exact craft supplies you want for Christmas.

Now here's the awesome part...the 2018 edition of the Ultimate Husband's Silhouette Gift Giving Guide is a little different than past years. How to Fake Hand Drawn Lettering Skills in Silhouette Studio

I have NO skills in the handwriting department and let's not even talk about calligraphy....just no.  But...I can fake it with the best of them! Yup, more and more with the help of Silhouette Studio and now, a second specially coded set of fonts from The Hungry JPEG, I've been able to fake hand drawn lettering like a pro.

How to Add HTV on Towels

I'm answering a reader question today - one I've been asked many times - about how to add heat transfer vinyl to towels.   I sacrificed a small hand towel for this little experiment in case things went sour. But they didn't! It actually worked nicely.

Vinyl Glass Block Tutorial: Silhouette School

I've gotten a lot of requests for a vinyl glass block tutorial and while I admit I'm not a huge fan of them, I must give the people what they want. So today I'm going to show you how to make vinyl glass block decals with your Silhouette.

Lots of people add lights inside and/or a bow on top, but I decided to go a little bit of a different route.  I made a glass block piggy bank as a baby gift for a friend of mine who welcomed her fourth boy.  Clearly she doesn't need any more toys....and I'm sure her onesie collection is rather large.

Free Mason Jar Silhouette Studio Cut File

Silhouette Studio, free cut file, mason jarIt's Friday and that means it's time for another round of Freebie Friday! That's where I give you a Silhouette Studio cut file for free!

This week I'm sharing a set of mason jar cut files courtesy of My Vinyl Direct.

Now usually you can pick up the coordinating SVG design from My Vinyl Direct with the purchase of the matching mason jar acrylic blank, but sharing is caring - so I have it for free for ya!

I used the file to create a pineapple-inspired monogrammed mason jar keychain. For cuteness sake, right?!  Pineapples are like all the rage right now and you can't go wrong with mason jars or monograms. Put them together and you've got pretty close to perfect. IMHO.

DIY Silhouette Art with Vinyl and Cardstock (No Tricky Photography or Editing Needed)

DIY Silhouette Art is really popular, but it can be a challenge if you have to take a picture in front of a window or use a special design program to remove the background.  With your Silhouette, you don't need either! All you need is vinyl and cardstock.

Expressions Vinyl provided Silhouette School the vinyl for this awesome project - and tons of others on this blog!

The great thing about making silhouette art with your Silhouette is you don't need any tricky photography or editing.  All you need is a semi-profile picture of your child.  Since my kids can't ever seem to face the camera when I'm taking a picture anyway, I had an abundance of profile photos to choose from.

Accordion Fold Card Tutorial: It's Easy with Silhouette Studio!

Welcome to class Silhouette School students. My name is Kelly and Melissa has asked me to substitute teach for her today. I normally teach over at Simply Kelly Designs where I share Silhouette tutorials, crafty creations and my digital scrapbook designs.

My lesson plan for today is to show you how to design an accordion fold card in Silhouette Studio. I created a DAD accordion fold card for Father's Day but today I will show you how to design a MOM accordion fold card. I'm giving this card to my mom for her birthday.

One of the keys to creating a great word accordion fold card is to find the right font. I like to use a bold font where the letters are close to the same width. Check out this tutorial on my method to choose the perfect font every time.

My Top 10 Favorite Vinyl Blanks Projects

Silhouette Cameo, vinyl, blanks
Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing 10 of my all time favorite blanks projects.

You know what blanks are right?  They're the "things" in the saying "Vinyl all the things".  Ah ha I knew you'd get it when I explained it that way.

I love blanks because they give you the chance to pretty much personalize and customize any way you want to.  Punch Place Plus is one of my go-to suppliers for blanks because of their huge assortment of blanks and their rock bottom prices.

All 10 of these blanks projects were done using Punch Place Plus blanks which is pretty hard to believe considering there's everything from jewelry to burlap to doll accessories and workout gear in the group!

And in no particular order here are my top 10 favorites...Just click on the title to go to the Silhouette School tutorial. Within each tutorial you'll be given the supply list and more details on the blanks needed.

Oh, and don't forget to join Punch Place Plus' new Acrylic Cloth Blanks Facebook group where you'll be among the first notified of new blanks available, but also you'll find inspiration and ideas from other users who are working with the same products!!

Easy Stud & Dangle Custom Earrings: Silhouette Tutorial

In April I headed out to Salt Lake City for a 3-day blogging conference called SNAP!  It was amazing and so were the three fabulous bloggers I roomed with: Katie from View from the Fridge; Kim from The Kim Six Fix and Jessi from Practically Functional.  I wanted to take them each a little gift so of course I had to make them something special...and personalized.

Silhouette Cameo, earrings, stud earrings, dangle earrings, custom earringsThe gift is actually two parts: the first part is a personalized jewelry dish. That's like old news...see here for the tutorial.

The second part is a set of monogrammed earrings for each of them.  I've shared some other stud earrings on the blog before but I have to say - these may just be my new favorites.  I just love that little glass bubble that goes on the top.

Make Custom Gift Wrap with Vinyl

The ways I find to use my Silhouette never fail to impress me. Did you catch that? I sometimes impress myself...like that time when I ran out of both gift wrap (or really I only had newborn-appropriate paper) and time and decided I'd wrap a gift with a roll of brown paper. Well, that's kinda, sorta, most definitely booooooring.
