What is Going on With the Silhouette Design Store? 2024 Update

You may have noticed the Silhouette Design Store is slow..painfully slow.  An announced May 2024 update to the Design Store as well as the Silhouette America website is going much slower than I'm sure anyone would like...including Silhouette.

It's preventing or causing delays in downloads, syncing and navigating.  So..what's a crafty person who needs designs and fonts to do?  Read on..

Silhouette Announcement 2023: The One We've Been Waiting For

The highly anticipated new 2023 Silhouette product announcement is finally coming! 

The September 2023 announcement will be the first time in four years Silhouette has held the Silhouette Summit in Hawaii where they show off and share new product releases and software updates.

How to Back Up, Save, and Export Your Silhouette Studio Library Files

If you've ever been on the losing end of a computer crash you know how upsetting and frustrating it can be to lose photos, files, and months or years of work. 

Or perhaps you are getting a new computer and don't want to have to manually move each and every file in your Silhouette Studio library.  Well lucky for you and me Silhouette America has created a really fast way to backup, save, move and/or export your entire Studio Library. 

And the best part is...you don't even have to be computer savvy to do it.  

Silhouette Sheet Feeder: Everything to Know

Silhouette America announced the upcoming release of the long-awaited Silhouette Sheet feeder today and with it the first look at the add-on accessory and the opening of pre-orders.

The two different size sheet feeders are compatible with the CAMEO 4 machines and the Portrait 3 and allow for up to 20 printed sheets to be stacked and then automatically fed into the cutting machine for cutting. 

How to (Perfectly) Trace a Photo in Silhouette Studio (Updated 2022)

One of the first tutorials I ever shared on Silhouette School was on how to trace a photo to get a silhouette. The point editing method results in a silhouette and it's perfect if that's what you're looking for.  But what if you want more depth and character and really want to keep the essence of the photo?  The trace function is about to become your new BFF.

The first thing you want to do is find a photo.  It's best to pick a photo that doesn't have a ton of background.  I went with this picture of me and my daughter paddle boarding.  It's obviously a color photo and while you can trace a color photo I find it easier to trace a black and white image since the trace feature works on finding contrast.  Never did I think I'd share a picture of me in a bathing suit on this blog....but...

11 Reasons Your Silhouette Is Not Cutting (or Not Cutting Completely)

I get questions almost daily from Silhouette users who are having issues with their Silhouette not cutting. There are at least 11 reasons why your Silhouette may not be cutting and most of them are really easy to fix.

Some of the issues have to do with the Silhouette CAMEO blade not cutting, while others stem from settings in Silhouette Studio and still others are user error. No worries, just go through this checklist to figure out why your Silhouette isn't cutting!

Update: If you're having trouble with a Silhouette CAMEO 3 not cutting, go through the below list and if none of these easy fixes remedy the problem, it could be a problem with the how the Autoblade is sitting in the tool carriage or Bluetooth. If that's the case, check out this additional information on why the Silhouette CAMEO 3 isn't cutting.

Problems Detecting Registration Marks on Silhouette...and How to Fix It!

And the number one question to Silhouette School is:  Why won't my Silhouette detect the registration marks for a print and cut?

Well, my friends there are a few different reasons and a few different ways to fix this problem.  Some of them are honestly just silly and others are more time consuming than anything else. 

Activating (or Re-Activating) Silhouette Studio Designer Edition (DE+ or Business)

If you suddenly lose your Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, need to active a Silhouette Studio upgrade, or move your license key to a new computer, you'll need to activate or reactivate the upgrade.

This tutorial will walk you through how to re-activate Silhouette Studio Designer Edition.  The same steps can be used to activate or move Business Edition and Designer Edition Plus to a new computer as well.

Secret to Revealing Grid Box Numbers in Silhouette Studio
