Virtual teamwork involves collaborating online across distances. Teachers worked with a GE team on a school preparation project. The GE team wanted to involve students in collaborative projects, but the teachers were unfamiliar with virtual teamwork. Virtual collaborations through sharing documents, testing products across time zones, and real-time discussions are essential for participating in today's global business world. A virtual collaboration project between six rural Virginia school systems resulted in 91% student success through online discussions and clarification of opinions. Students now conduct shared plant DNA research experiments across districts and collaborate online to share results.
