6 (six) is a number, a numeral and a glyph representing a number. This is a natural number, which follows 5 and is preceded by 7. This number is the cardinal number, that is, a number used for counting. In addition, it is classified as a real number, which distinguishes it from imaginary numbers.

The evolution of our modern glyph for 6 looks pretty simple compared to other numbers. Our modern 6 can be traced back to the Brahmins of the Indians, who wrote it with one stroke, like a cursive lowercase e that rotates 45 degrees clockwise. Gradually, the upper stroke (above the central block) becomes more curved, and the lower part of the stroke (under the central thread) becomes more straight.

In the seven segments of calculators and watches, 6 is usually recorded with six segments. Some historical models of calculators use only five segments for 6, dropping the upper horizontal bar. This glyph variant is not fixed. For calculators that can display results in hexadecimal, 6, which looks like B, is not practical.

Six is the only perfect number, the number of the harmonic divider and a very combined number. The next very combined number is 12.

5 and 6 form a pair of Ruth-Aaron by both definitions.

The smallest non-Abelian group is the symmetric group S3, which has 3! = 6 elements.

6 is the largest of the four all-Harshad numbers.

The six-sided polygon is a hexagon, one of three polygons that can line the plane. Numbers representing hexagons (including six) are called hexagonal numbers. The sixth is an octahedral number. This is a triangular number and so is its square (36).
