Surprisingly delicious cherry fruit is packed full of health benefits of nutrients and antioxidants unique. Cherries are native to Eastern Europe and Asia Minor regions.

Cherry drupe fruit with a central “stony-hard” seed surrounded by a fleshy edible mass measuring about two centimeters in diameter. Outwardly, they covered the light, “shiny” red or purple, thin peel.

Low Calorie Fruit

Cherries are one of the very low calorie fruits. Nevertheless, they are a rich source of phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals. Both sweet and tart cherries are packed with numerous health benefit compounds that are essential for good health.

A Powerful Anti-oxidant Properties

Cherries are rich pigmented fruits. These pigments are essentially flavonoid polyphenolic compounds known as anthocyanin glycosides. Anthocyanins are red, purple or blue pigments found in many fruits and vegetables, especially concentrated in the skin, know that there is a powerful anti-oxidant properties.

Varieties of Cherries

There are two main varieties of cherries you should know about: sweet and tart (also known as cherries). Sweet cherries are best eaten fresh (and raw), while the cherry develop fuller flavor when used in cooking (and, thus, they are often used for baking). Tart cherries are also used to make juice concentrates, which can offer some unique health benefits.

Cherry also contain a small amount of quercetin, which is one of the most powerful antioxidant from the viewpoint of activity and a wide range of other beneficial properties for the health.
