Christmas trees or fir are a genus of 48-56 species of evergreen conifers in the family Pinaceae. They are found throughout most of North and Central America, Europe, Asia and North Africa, occurring in mountains over most of the range.
Fir Trees are symmetrical, evergreen, coniferous trees, which range in mature height of 10-80 meters. Their branches grow in whorl around the tree every year, which makes it easy to find out the age of the tree. They are erect with the cones facing up, not down, as in many other types of evergreens. The root system of the tree helps prevent soil erosion. They prefer full sun, but some species can tolerate partial shade.
