The Jonas Brothers are an American pop-rock band. Founded in 2005, they have gained popularity through their performances on the Disney Channel television network. They consist of three brothers: Kevin Jonas, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas. The Jonas brothers grew up in Wyckoff, New Jersey, and moved to Little Falls, New Jersey, in 2005, where they recorded their first album, which was released on Hollywood Records. In the summer of 2008, they starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock and its sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. They also played Kevin, Joe and Nick Lucas of the JONAS group on Disney Channel’s Jonas, which was renamed Jonas L.A. after the first season and canceled after the second. The group has released five albums: It’s About Time (2006), Jonas Brothers (2007), A Little Bit Longer (2008), Lines, Vines and Trying Times (2009), and Happiness Begins (2019).
In 2008, the group was nominated for the 51st Grammy for Best New Artist and won the Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards. By May 2009, prior to the release of Lines, Vines and Trying Times, they had sold over eight million albums worldwide. After hiatus in 2010 and 2011 for solo projects, in 2012, the band reconciled to record a new album, which was canceled after their disbandment on October 29, 2013.
By 2013, they have sold over 17 million albums worldwide. Six years after their split, the group reunited with the release of “Sucker” on March 1, 2019. Song ranked 34th the song in history that debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and became the first single on the chart of the Jonas Brothers. Their fifth studio album, Happiness Begins, was released on June 7, 2019, and topped the US Billboard 200. In 2005, Joe, Kevin, and Nick recorded “Please Be Mine,” their first recordable song. After hearing the song, Columbia Records president Steve Greenberg decided to sign a band with the brothers. They considered naming their band “Sons of Jonas” before agreeing to the name Jonas Brothers. While working on their debut studio album in 2005, the band toured with artists such as Jump5, Kelly Clarkson, Jesse McCartney, Backstreet Boys, and The Click Five. They spent the last part of the year touring with Aly & AJ and The Cheetah Girls. They also opened for The Veronicas in early 2006. For their first album, It’s About Time, the band collaborated with several authors, including Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne), Michael Mangini (Joss Stone) and Desmond Child (Aerosmith, Bon Jovi), Billy Mann (Destiny’s Child, Jessica Simpson) and Steve Greenberg.
