Facial Hair Transplant
Facial Hair Transplant was a photograph that was created in 1972 by the artist Ana Mendieta. The back story of this photograph is that she asked one of her male students for his beard trimmings. She then proceeded to glue them onto her face in the shape of a male mustache. The message she wanted to give is that fluidity and gender identification is accepting. She did this to upset gender expectations and to show the use or organic material. Located in the Galerie Lelong & Alison Jacques Gallery.
