The Browning Automatic Rifle or BAR, was invented by John Browning during WWI. Though superior to all other portable automatic rifles of the period, it was only to see limited use during the war, most notably in the hands of the sons inventor, Lt. Val Browning. It saw heavy use in WWII and Korea, and soldiered into the Vietnam era.
