A photo of young Boxers. Ultimately, the Boxers converged on Beijing with the slogan "support the Qing, exterminate the foreigners." They forced foreigners and Chinese Christians to seek refuge in the Legation Quarter. In response to reports of armed foreign landings and demands, the initially hesitant Empress Dowager Cixi, urged by the conservatives of the Imperial Court, supported the Boxers and on June 21 authorized war on foreign powers.
Wellesley Pigott (1887-1900) - Find a Grave...
Wellesley Pigott was the only child of Thomas Wellesley Pigott and Emily Jessie Kemp Pigott. The December before his death, he began teaching a Sunday school class of Chinese boys. He was arrested in Shou-yang with his parents and marched to Taiyuan in chains. He died at twelve years of age, at the public execution at Taiyuan, on order of Governor Yu-Hsien, during the Boxer Rebellion.

BOXER REBELLON
The China Inland Mission lost more members than any other missionary agency: 58 adults and 21 children were killed by the Chinese Boxers. However, in 1901, when the allied nations were demanding compensation from the Chinese government, Hudson Taylor refused to accept payment for loss of property or life in order to demonstrate the meekness and gentleness of Christ to the Chinese.
