PC 4306 Penn Central EMD E8(A) at Indianapolis, Indiana by Douglas G. Walker
Having completed another safe run, the old crew heads toward the station in Indianapolis, Indiana, on a chilly December 14th, 1973, as a fresh crew climbs aboard Penn Central E8A 4306. The train is Amtrak #31, the westbound National Limited, heading from New York and Washington DC (these two halves combined in Harrisburg, PA) to Kansas City, Missouri.
NYC 4083 New York Central EMD E8(A) at Boonton, New Jersey by Dennis A. Livesey
Some fun at the URHS yard in Boonton, New Jersey. The Jade Green 4083, believe it or not, is completely authentic for was it an actual New York Central E-8 and one of only three that ever got this color. I am sure most would agree that the color is not practical for railroad use and a crazy idea for a restoration. But who cares? What matters is how great is it that they did this. I think the gang at URHS deserves the most creative restoration of the year!
