The U-575 was a Type VIIC U-boat of German Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was laid down on 1 August 1940 at Blohm & Voss, Hamburg as 'werk' 551, launched on 30 April 1941 and commissioned on 19 June under the command of Kapitänleutnant Günther Heydemann.  She was a member of 18 wolfpacks, carried out ten patrols, sank eight ships totalling 36,010 GRT and damaged three other of 29,777 GRT.
