Earthworms Under Microscope

Strongyloides stercoralis, or the threadworm, is an infection that usually results in asymptomatic chronic disease of the gut, which can remain undetected for decades. The unique ability of this nematode to replicate in the human host permits cycles of autoinfection, leading to chronic disease that can last for a long time. Life threatening infections are usually treated with thiabendazole but isn't always effective. http://cid.oxfordjournals.org/content/33/7/1040.full
