One for advanced knitters but possibly the cutest knitted toy you will ever make! Anatomically correct, Al Paca even has toes on his feet. He is quite intricate to knit and techniques include different increasing and decreasing stitches, short row shaping, picot bind off and a structurally sturdy, loop stitch. Unlike most knitted toys, Al Paca is joined together whilst knitting the body. This means that there is only the back seam to sew up when finished.

So it's the time of year where the alpaca fleece is sent off to the mill, but what happens before it goes to the mill? The alpacas are sheared once a year in May. The fleeces need to be all sorted through by hand and all of the fleeces are skirted; this is when all the rough edges and second cuts are removed, debris is taken out and the remainder is weighed. Then it is usually bagged by colours and staple lengths together so that it is easy for the mill to process when making our yarn.
