"The Fortune-Teller," a mezzotint after a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792) which was painted in 1777 and exhibited at the Royal Academy. The scene shows a dandy offering the gypsy palm-reader the hand of his sweetheart, who seems amused and embarrassed at the situation. A penciled notation indicates it is an artist's proof, and it is signed by "CRH Ludwig." The date is unknown. It is printed on heavy, unwatermarked wove paper, about 113/8 x 17 inches.
