A small Bible flag that belonged to a Southern lady whom recorded the birth of a child on front of flag.

Captain William Harris or the 19th Mississippi had this in his bible.

CONFEDERATE BIBLE FLAG CAPTURED BY MATTHEW ROBERTSON OF THE 13TH INDIANA INFANTRY AT THE BATTLE OF RICH MOUNTAIN, VIRGINIA (NOW WEST VIRGINIA) IN JULY OF 1861, WITH LOOM-WOVEN STARS AND SILK RIBBON STRIPES.

Bible Flags

This flag is inscribed on the white edge: "Captured by Moonlight after a long chase comenced near Tampa bay." Based on this notation, the flag was apparently taken by the crew of a Union ship from a captured Southern vessel along Florida’s central Gulf coast. Tampa Bay was an active area for Southern blockade-runners. These vessels are known to have flown a variety of different flag patterns; however, this example appears to be of a unique design. Alternatively, because of its somewhat similar appearance to the St. John's River flag (one independent researcher has speculated that this flag could perhaps have originally been used in the Confederate artillery battery at Fort Brooke, Tampa, which was occupied by troops of the 2nd Florida Battalion.

Personal First National style Confederate Flag possibly belonged to John Hunt Morgan, flown while in battle. Found in a collection purchased at Thomss House in Lebanon, Tennessee. According to the donor, it was in the possession of Mattie Ready Morgan, the wife of John Hunt Morgan.

Mississippi Magnolia...Early War flag.......This flag was captured by the 2nd lowa Cavalry on May 30, 1962 just north of Booneville, Mississippi. It is currently in the possession of the State Historical Society of lowa, Des Moines, lowa.

This surviving Civil War era flag matches the
1861 Mississippi state Magnolia flag description more closely than any other currently discovered surviving Magnolia sample.

Members of Companies A and I of the First Kansas Infantry crossed the Missouri River to take this flag from the town square at Iatan, Missouri, on June 3, 1861.

The original caption is fragmentary and reads, "This is Quantral's flag the red field di-vided] into quarters by the black [cross, the significance of which was, 'Give [no quarter, accept] none.' This was made [for Allen Par]mer, Quantral's Right-h[and man, by] the sister of Frank and [Jesse James.]

Allen and Susan were married in 1870 and lived in Wichita Falls, Texas. Susan died in 1889. Allen lived until 1924. They are buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls.

Ceremonial flag of the Barrow Guards, Gordon's Bn., later known as Co. C, 1st Tenn. Cav. Regt. (Col. James T. Wheeler's), CSA. The flag is hand-sewn with eleven stenciled stars and belonged to Capt. E. E. (Jim) Buchanan. Capt. Buchanan presented the flag at veterans' reunions and funerals. The flag was possibly sewn by Lucinda East Buchanan, Capt. Buchanan's mother.

Was organized at Nashville, Tennessee, during the summer of 1861. Although the company was mustered into Confederate service as light artillery, it appears to have always manned the heavy guns. One section was stationed at Fort Henry, Tennessee, and another at Fort Heiman, Kentucky. The section at Fort Henry was captured, and the men at Fort Heiman withdrew to Fort Donelson and were subsequently captured when it fell. After being exchanged, it was assigned to the Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana, ordered to Port Hudson, and captured in July 1863. Again exchanged, the unit served as infantry, then as light artillery, and in January 1864, merged into the 1st Tennessee Heavy Artillery

This flag was carried by an unknown Virginia regiment. On April 8, 1865, Major Thomas Ward of General Armstrong Custers's cavalry division captured it near Namozine Church. Major Ward was General Custer's brother-in-law.
