a woman holding up a piece of paper that says the first painting in my biggest watercolor journal
1.6K reactions · 49 shares | So many of you have asked me where I got this GIANT watercolor book . It’s from @sugarbooandco_ and I picked it up at the cutest shop in Midvale UT called @thedaintypearco ! It’s absolutely perfect for watercolors, I love the rough texture and deckled edges. I’m determined to paint something in it once a week, and now that I have officially broken it in with the first painting …. What should I paint next? ⭐️If you want to see a step by step mini tutorial on these flowers , check out my previous reel ! | Bree Copley | Facebook
someone is holding up a card with christmas lights on it
243K views · 11K reactions | Easy Holiday Sketchbook | Supplies listed below -- always This is a throwback because your girl is BUSY packing orders! The shipping deadline is Monday for my site, so get those... | By andrea.nelson.art | If you need a little creative break from all of the holiday chaos, this is it. I'm going to do it in a sketchbook but it would be a really cute card. So, like productive and also a break. Sharpie. We're going to draw the bulbs for Christmas lights like the big, old-fashioned chunky ones. If you want them all to be the same, you can make a little template. I'm not usually super picky about things all being the same but this just felt more efficient to me. So, I made the little template and it was hopeful. Then, you need to do the wire and the plugged these and I made the wire all twisty and knotted like just like the real lights in my house. This is why we use Sharpie. Gonna cover the whole thing in clean water. Watercolor paint. We're going to paint them all different colors and we're going to let the color go outside of the line. We want it to be kind of light 'cuz it's going to be the light like the the light from the light bulb. We put the water down first so that it'll be nice and soft. No harsh lines. Also, did you notice that there is one that does not have wire Can you find it? If your paper starts to dry out, just add a little bit more water. They're going to look all glowy. Okay, let this dry. Gonna fix my my missing wire. Fixed. Now that it's dry, we go back over and we're going to fill in the light bulbs. So, pick a side that's going to be the highlight because we're going to leave a little bit of open space on that side. So, we're going in with more saturated version of the color leaving a highlight and then, I go outside of the line just a little bit on the opposite side. You're just making a highlight and a shadow which seems like a fancy thing to do but it's really not. You can totally do this. For a little bit more contrast, you can add a little bit of white. This one's my favorite and using white is not You get to do whatever you want here. I didn't call it blob art but it is it's basically it's basically more blobs. Blobs continue.

51K reactions · 1.3K shares | Tis the season for Peonies ✨. When I heard that they were among the hardest flowers to paint I wanted to try and see if I could come up with a way to teach anyone how to paint them. I tried every way possible and I think I came up with not only the easiest but quickest way to paint these beautiful blooms! And that is why this mini tutorial deserves another spotlight! Here’s How to create these beautiful blooms 1. Start with an imperfect circle wet on wet technique -wet paint is applied to wet paper This creates a fluid, fun and unpredictable effect. 2. Roll up a paper towel into a ball. Find a side that resembles a “rose” and use that end to soak up some of the paint. - you can choose the center of the circle or even a little off to the side a bit. 3. Use a filbert brush or any oval paint brush to create loos petals around the circle. Depending on how “bloomed” you want your peony to be you can leave space in between the petals for a more open bloom 4 . while the petals are still wet , use a paper towel to blot or remove some of the paint. Repeat steps 3 & 4 as many times as you would like, this is an easy way to create the many layers that peonies have. Do this until you have reached the desired depth and shape of your peony. Practice these steps and you’ll be a peony painting pro! ✨ Let me know if you have any questions!
