Christophe n’aimait pas refaire la même chose. C’est ce que prouve cette compilation, qui a la particularité de présenter des chansons du dandy ovni dans des versions inattendues. On trouvera tout d’abord des morceaux tirés de concerts mythiques, comme l’Olympia 2002 (Senorita, Succès Fou, Aline). Ce best of s’ouvre d’ailleurs sur un moment live unique : la version piano-voix des Mots bleus, qui était parue dans l’album Intime en 2014. Les Paradis perdus, Les Marionnettes et La Petite Fille du soleil proviennent également de cet opus magique de l’artiste décédé en avril 2020. De nombreux duos figurent dans cet album, notamment avec de brillants représentants de la jeune génération : Julien Doré pour La Dolce Vita et Juliette Armanet pour Boule de flipper. De façon plus inattendue, on croisera Laetitia Casta dans Daisy, ou bien Alan Vega du groupe Suicide dans le décoiffant Tangerine. Cette dernière chanson est d’ailleurs également présente sous la forme d’un remix musclé dû à Maud Geffray. Tu te moques fait également l’objet d’une relecture, en l’occurrence par les Nantais de Mansfield.TYA.
