Aclamado desde el momento del lanzamiento por su innovación, su posición con respecto a la crítica ha ido empeorando en cierta medida en las décadas posteriores debido a las pretensiones esporádicas del concepto y dada la naturaleza insustancial de algunas de las canciones que funcionaron como algo más que dispositivos para avanzar en un argumento más bien superficial.
