Even legendary Stax guitarist Steve Cropper couldn't save this album. Cropper produced it and played on three cuts, but his soulful approach and the band's determination to play blue-eyed funk just don't mesh. The horn section sounds ready to break out into "I Can't Turn You Loose" throughout the Cropper-penned "Consideration," an interesting glimpse into what might have been had Cold Blood chosen a different road. Singer Lydia Pense is in fine form as always.
