Eddy Mitchell first rose to fame as one of France's first homegrown rock & roll stars in the early 1960s, and he later enjoyed a successful career as an actor and producer in films and television. Mitchell brings his love of pop music and the movies together on his 2009 album Grand Ecran ("Big Screen" in English), in which he interprets great songs that have appeared in classic Hollywood films. Mitchell lends his personal touch to French-language versions of "Knocking On Heaven's Door" ("Frappe Aux Portes du Paradis"), "Over The Rainbow" ("Derriere L'arc-en-Ceil"), "It Was A Very Good Year" ("Ma Plus Belle Annee"), "I Walk the Line" ("Je File Droit"), and twelve more.
