The Cornwall-born, Berlin-based artist returns just a few months after his album Beauty in Your Wake Acoustic - an unplugged version of his 2024 album Beauty in Your Wake. Surrounded this time by a small band made up of Tom Lefebvre on bass (featured on David Bowie’s Blackstar) and Earl Harvin on drums, Fin Greenhall from Fink covers five tracks from five different musical universes in his own unique style. THE LOWSWING SESSIONS features “Modern Love” by David Bowie, “Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden, “Long Distance Love” by Little Feat, “What Difference Does It Make” by The Smiths and “You Got to Take Sick and Die Some of These Days” by Muddy Waters. The live-in-studio album finishes with Fink’s own songs, “Trouble’s What You’re In” and “Q&A vs Brown Paper Bag”, where he sings over a drum & bass backing track created by English producer, Roni Size.

These understated and classy live-session recordings are masterfully arranged and leave behind the earthy folk of Fink’s previous releases and lean more towards soul and blues territory. The album was released under the small Berlin label, Low Swing Records, and was recorded in two days at the label’s studios. It was then mixed and mastered in London at the prestigious AIR studios, founded by George Martin and John Burgess. The entire process was meticulously carried out using analogue technology - on tape and without using computers. At the request of the artist, the label agreed to make the album exclusively available on Qobuz in high-resolution quality, in line with the studio’s values. © Charlotte Saintoin/Qobuz
