Caleb S This is a fun heist movie. I thought it was pretty funny, and I was engaged the whole time. It’s not super memorable though. Channing Tatum is a great actor in this, too. The film is buoyed by a strong ensemble cast, including Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, and a scene-stealing Daniel Craig as Joe Bang, whose comedic timing is a highlight. While the movie is entertaining and often clever, its plot relies heavily on improbable coincidences and last-minute solutions—classic deus ex machina devices that strain credibility, especially since nearly every character is portrayed as somewhat dimwitted or incompetent. The film’s most memorable and humorous scene comes during a prison riot, where the inmates demand the latest Game of Thrones novels as a condition for ending their protest. The warden, reading from Wikipedia, has to explain that The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring have not been published yet—a fact the prisoners refuse to believe, sparking a hilarious debate about George R.R. Martin’s missed deadlines and the TV show overtaking the books. This meta-joke about the long-delayed books, delivered with deadpan sincerity, stands out as the film’s comedic high point and captures its offbeat tone. Ultimately, Logan Lucky is a fun ride with a few standout moments, but its reliance on improbable twists and the bumbling nature of its characters can make the plot feel less satisfying for viewers seeking a tightly constructed caper.
