So you know were in trouble right off the bat when they can't get that right. Terrible acting overall. there dull, don't have any chemistry, some are sleepwalking, and the dialouge is just terrible. It's literally just plot expose and restating what we just saw happen on screen. Literally it spells out half the things that go on because were idiots I guess. D'Onofrio is the only trying but the character he's given just isn't that good. The main girl also is just super forgettable as well. The music is boring, generic and forgettable. Everything else is terrible. It looks so lifeless and dull and as we get the closer to the end, the more dark and hard to see this becomes. The direction is so basic as well with maybe one or two nice shots the entire time. The death blows here that send this into the abyss is the fact it isn't scary at all and any attempt it makes is just poorly done jumpscares or pointless scenes like her getting stuck in the tomb. Literally adds nothing to the plot and isn't scary at all. The journey tracking down the origins of the tape is so boring and pointless to the ultimate conclusion here of the girl being reborn into the new girl (screw spoilers. This isn't worth it) Like it makes no sense the ending and just comes out of nowhere. so on top of being super repetitive and doing everything we seen in the last two films and just doing it very poorly, the way it uses those aspects makes no freakin sense. For like 75% of the runtime it's just a slog and slowly goes downhill but in the final 20 or so it just ramps up and floors it downhill becoming incoherent at times, jumpy, and again with a crappy finale that makes no sense whatsoever. Skip This ad just watch the 98' Japanese original. Rated 1/5 Stars •  Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review Adam B A shockingly decent movie from a really mediocre trilogy, it's weird how many decent ideas were actually present in this movie. While the lower budget clearly shows in every scene after the prolouge, the concepts they go for are rather engaging enough. That being said, it really loses you at the end with some very ridiculous plot points that don't make sense. It's hard to recommend this movie after the first two, but if you somehow enjoyed those, this is definitely worth your time. Rated 0.5/5 Stars •  Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Josh A I can understand the hate for this one. The plot can get a bit weird at times. But, that being said, I liked it. For starters, it was nice to see a return to the books: this movie was a loose adaptation of Spiral, the second novel in the Ring series. It was also nice to see a return to the Rings in the short film, although I'm glad they didn't do a full movie about it because we already got that. It was also nice seeing more about Samara's origins and I hope we eventually get a Samara origin movie akin to Ring 0: Birthday. The ending is the best part though. It's where the Spiral inspirations are seen most, with Samara being reborn and the video going viral, similar to the fact that in the Japanese films and the novel series, Sadako kills via a thing called the Ring Virus. It leaves it wide open for a fourth movie, which I hope we eventually get. Also the tension as "rebirth" is slowly spelt out is amazing. Overall, good movie. Next up, nothing! That is the end of my big watch-through of the Ring series. I will edit this when the next movie comes out to say "Next up, (whatever the next one is called)!", but as of now, that ends it. What an amazing series. Can't wait for more Ring movies! As, let's face it: it's only a matter of time before we get more.
