Mizuki's POV
As I approach the house one second after the other I feel my heart beat getting faster and I stare at Sasuke as his head slowly rises. His eyes lock with mine as a painful smile spreads across his face when I see tears running down his cheeks.
He stands up quickly and runs towards me but it feels like everything is in slow motion but when he finally reaches me, he pulls me into his embrace.
In that moment I feel safe and I slowly wrap my arms around his body as I cry into his chest softly.
"I'm so happy you're okay." He whispers to me.
"B-But I'm not." I choke out.
He pulls away slightly but we're still within arms reach and he looks at me sadly as his hands cup my cheeks.
"Then I'll help you be okay." He says sweetly.
He wraps an arm around my waist and leads me inside where the house lies empty and looks untouched for the whole time I was gone.
"Where's Sarada?" I ask first.
"She had a mission."
Sasuke leads me to the couch as we both sit down but his arm still rests around my waist as he holds me close.
"Did you really sit on the steps the whole time I was gone?"
"Well first I searched he village for you. Then I waited on the steps."
I chuckle softly as I rest my head on his chest and he places his free hand on mine which rested on my leg.
"We'll get through whatever it is that you're going through, together." He whispers as I feel him kiss my head softly.
"Okay."
-The next morning-
I wake up to Sasuke's body shift and I pull way seeing that I was laying on him the whole time and we fell asleep.
I get up softly so I don't wake him as I go into the kitchen and stare at the dishes that needed to be done.
I just shake my head as I walk down the hall to Sarada's room as I quietly open the door to see her still asleep in bed.
Her glasses rest on the table by her bed as I walk inside and I take a seat on her bed when I let my hand rest on hers.
"I'm sorry I'm not the best mom Sarada. I really want to protect you from all the danger in the world. But I know I can't...it only takes a second for something bad to happen. Hopefully I'll be there to save you." I say as a tear runs down my cheek.
"You will be. So will I." Sasuke voice appears making me jump slightly.
"I know." I say as I get up and walk over to the door.
"Come on. Let's go do the dishes." He says and I nod my head.
We head to the kitchen where there was already soapy water in the sink and a pair of yellow gloves sitting next to it.
He picks them up and puts them on then hands me a towel as he starts cleaning dishes off then hands them to me.
After a while we finish the dishes but he doesn't drain the water, he throws the gloves away.
"Hey, just think positive okay?"
"Okay." I say softly.
I stare at the ground until I feel water hit me and I look up to see Sasuke splashing soapy water at me.
"Sasuke quit!" I yell playfully while holding up the towel to block my face.
"Then smile." He says and I smile but he doesn't buy it.
