Tinku Ray is a career journalist with more than 25 years of experience across three continents.
She started working with the BBC in London as a researcher and quickly worked her way up to producer, editor, host and reporter. She's also worked at Marketplace and Weekend America for APM in Los Angeles and NPR West. During her years as a correspondent for The World, Tinku covered events such as the start of the Afghan war after 9/11, the visit of President Clinton to India, India’s worst earthquake in Gujarat and the end of the Sri Lankan civil war.
Passionate about radio, she worked hard to move up from a researcher to a correspondent and editor. A desire to pass on that experience and skills compelled Tinku to start training young journalists on best practices and how to tell a good story. She loves nature and owns a farm with her husband in rural India, which they’re developing as an eco-resort.
