Homemade Fresh Taro Paste
You can also make fresh taro paste at home if you don’t want to use taro powder to make taro milk tea. Here’s how you can do it:
Ingredients:
- 450g Taro root
- 150g Purple sweet potato
- 70g Cream
- 35g Butter
- 25g Milk
- 24g Condensed Milk
- 25g White granulated sugar (adjust the amount to your liking and taste as you make it. Alternatively, you can replace the sugar with a sugar substitute if desired.)
Instructions:
STEP 1: Peel and cube the taro root & purple sweet potato. The purple sweet potato will add vibrant purple coloring without using food coloring.
STEP 2: Put them in the pot and steam them for about 20 minutes. (you can easily insert a chopstick if it is cooked through)
STEP 3: While the taro and sweet potato are still hot, place them in a clean plastic or fresh-keeping bag that has been covered with plastic wrap. Use a rolling pin to beat them a few times until they are easily crushable. Note that they will harden when they cool.
STEP 4: Add butter and white sugar to the mixture while it is hot. The amount of each ingredient can be adjusted to your liking. Use the rolling pin to mix the ingredients slightly, then switch to an electric egg beater or food processor.
STEP 5: Add cream and milk to the mixture and continue to mix until it is well combined.
