DPRK Crypto Threats: From Public Intelligence to On-Chain Tracing Session:
In this LEO Labs session, we will examine DPRK-linked crypto activity through a practical, case-based approach using publicly available and/or sanctioned information. The session will begin with a general intelligence overview of DPRK cyber-enabled revenue generation, including the role of cyber actors, IT workers, facilitators, and laundering networks. We will then use a public DPRK-linked case study, such as Sim Hyon Sop or Kim Sang Man, to demonstrate how investigators can move from open-source intelligence and sanctions reporting into on-chain tracing. The session will show how laundering layers can be identified, how exposure to services and potential off-ramp points can be developed, and how this type of analysis can generate investigative leads while remaining within safe and publicly shareable data.
