To the booming music of The Who, Louis XIV, and Soft Cell, 24 skinny male models paraded about in 24 even skinnier pairs of well-tailored slacks. The look for **Todd Snyder’**s fall 2014 collection was unabashedly mod. “I was looking at old photos of the Stones and Bowie from the early sixties and they reminded me of Quadrophenia. I have always loved blurring the lines between rebellious youth and sartorial tradition, so it was perfect,” explained Snyder. “I wanted to modernize it with active elements. For example, taking a traditional tailored fabric and bonding it to a weatherproof membrane to create a technical fabric that repels rain.”

For the most part these innovations stayed out of the way, letting the subtly updated classics speak for themselves. The oversize black hooded parka, a cropped leather moto jacket and a few boldly patterned suit jackets looked straight off the back of a vintage sixties Vespa. But another metallic brown parka glinted with a technical fabric shine and a number of looks were comprised of different variations of sweatpants on the bottom paired with more traditional tops.

“I like breaking rules and mixing tailored with active, and military with civilian. Well-fitting, smartly proportioned, and updated by mixing technical fabric with tailored fabric and leather,” said Snyder. “Makes perfect sense!”
