These were some of the best looking kits I've seen on a bike in a hot minute. They'll be back to blue next week, but I enjoyed seeing these bikes on my TV this weekend.
Just in time for the Barbie movie release....
Barbie and Ryan on their way to Shoug.....
The bikes looked great out on the track, the gear as well.
Not surprisingly the same guy that hates everything related to moto and, well, life in general, doesn't approve of how Yamaha chose to mark the 50th anniversary.
But in 1974 they were silver with a red stripe??
But they did look good this weekend.
I am an older fellow and remember when Yamaha’s were silver/red, then yellow/blk, Red/white etc…but I truly enjoy it anytime a manufacturer runs a “retro” theme and I really liked these Yamaha’s! I’m NOT so old I can’t deal with something new & different, and I liked the U.S. version, but I thought the Canadian teams knocked it out of the park with their version that had silver rims, more in line with the actual 1993 YZ’s, with the vintage YZ graphic instead of the gawd-awful monster claw!!! I know the energy drink pays the bills but sheeeesh its ok to run the vintage graphic for just ONE weekend! These Canadian bikes were AWESOME!
NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!!! 😎 👍❗️

Barbie's outfit actually looks like Broc Glover's cotton candy JT gear, which you probably thought was killer BITD.
The green M on the shrouds ruined a really good look
You know it's ok if you don't post in every single thread . You're every bit as annoying as you were under your previous user names .
100% agree that the Monster claw logo ruined the look. They could have changed it over to one of their "flavor" colors for one race, you know.
Thank you! It was fairly last minute for us (I am the mechanic that built that bike) but we pulled it off. A little creativity from multiple angles and companies working with us to supply what we needed. Of course, when we ordered hubs and rims, silver was "available now", purple was "available", so to ensure we had something other than the blue we usually run, we went with silver. I think they turned out badass. The year we were representing, '93, had silver rims so that was our justification lol
IMO, the silver wheels look better than purple anyway. We rarely see silver now, so good call.
Killer!!!
What's inside that clutch cover? I have a 23 as well.
I like both renditions. I'm typically not a fan of purple but man it all looks good!
I hated the purple / pink era of the 90s and never thought I'd like to see it again but these bikes looked awesome. I think the wheels and heads really set it off. Well done, yamaha.
Lot of Barbie fans on Vital. 🤡
Wow! It’s flippin’ cool that you could take the time to check in and leave a msg about your retro build! As I had mentioned, I definitely dig the U.S. version and I am damn glad Yamaha green-lighted a cool retro theme to commemorate their 50 year anniversary…BUT the silver wheels & old school YZ graphic that you guys went with REALLY channeled the 93 vibe! You guys NAILED IT, awesome job! And it’s super cool to hear from the guy doing the work! Thanks Donk! 🤪 👍❗️
The silver wheels are way better.
I was surprised Gas Gas went with black rims for their race bikes. OEM silver looked really good with the red frame and plastic.
Now available from D'Cor if you like them:

Pit Row
I just ordered some for my Triumph Tiger Rally Pro. My dad's got the ultimate set of tools, I can make anything fit.
Personally, I don't like it but some here said they did. I don't even own a Yamaha right now, but there's a chance it will be my next bike if I can get a leftover 2023 250F. No way I'm running that goofy looking front fender, looks like it belongs on a YZ 85.
