I first went to this venue when it was Sound Academy 16 years ago! Then it was a concert venue - now it's been transformed into one of Torontos best clubs (and concert venues).
It's pretty massive - although parties can fill up the space anyways.
The show is always wild, and the ceiling has a massive retractable fixture.
It has a VIP second floor, and a smaller second room that will play different music.
Bathrooms are fine. Could be bigger for the size of the venue, usually there's a big line.
The only downside really is that it can be hard to get to due to the narrow roads that serve the docks. Often there's a line of up cars and I usually walk or bike.
However, being outside of the downtown, they can go big with sound, so it's worth it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason W.Irvine, United States78370Jun 9, 2025
Saw the venue kick out a person with cerebral palsy in a wheelchair. Mainly because an attractive woman was upset that she was not ahead of the person. Do not patron this venue and most definitely contact its management about such violations.

The atmosphere of this club was amazing! This was one of the many caribana celebrations taking place that at the end of July! I'm glad I was able to be apart of such a crowd after 2 years of things being shut down! I would definitely recommend this venue because it was off the chain! Two levels. They also had special guest performers like Fabolous, Jadakiss and more! I had a good time.

I attended a Blockchain conference at Rebel. They had available accessible handicap parking in the parking lot about 50 meters from the door (which was ramped). They also have an elevator that can be used to access the 2nd floor.
I really appreciated how accessible this is, making it a great venue for midsized conferences.
The signs and cleanliness of this location is definitely also something that I truly appreciated (especially since it's used as a nightclub).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tessa B.Noëlville, ON010Jul 29, 2024
We had a poor customer service experience. A manager, who was asked to clarify our bottle service package miscommunicated, resulting in us receiving an unexpected bill of a few hundred dollars. Despite acknowledging his part in the miscommunication, he failed to reduce any portion of the charge, and instead gave us maybe $30.00 of non-alcoholic drinks that we didnt want. Terrible business practice. He is clearly very unsophisticated as to PR and incompetent for the position.

The last time I was at this venue, it had just become Sound Academy. Before this name change, it was called The Docks.
I have been away from this venue for ten years. The last time I saw a concert here was Keane in June 2009. I absolutely loved seeing them live.
I went to see Robyn at Rebel last Thursday night. I had forgotten that I had a VIP ticket. This package allows you to get into the venue an hour earlier, along with getting a commemorative bucket hat and laminated badge.
This venue has always been general admission. I don't normally like to go to a general admission show. It means that you are on your feet for most of the night. Considering that I got there at 5:30 pm and the show ended at around 11 pm, I was on my feet for a while. I also wanted to see Robyn badly.
I remembered that there was a parking lot across from the venue. I got there and noticed that it was at a steep $20. Thank goodness I had cash, as it's the only acceptable payment method. The guy at the parking lot was nice. I got my ticket, parked, and went in.
I didn't know where the box office was. I was supposed to go there, according to the e-mail. I asked a guy at the black tunnel. He said that it was off to the left, but he asked whether I was picking up tickets. I said it was for VIP ones. I was in the right place and he said to walk past him. Cool.
There really should be a sign in front of the black tunnel saying VIP. It wasn't until I got to the end of this path that I saw a sign saying that I was in the fast-track ticket lineup. Yay!
I will say that Rebel has its act together for VIPs. First, your name is on a list. You simply give your name to the person and she checks it off. There is no need to provide ID. Second, she and another member distributed the hat and badge in cute pink bags before we entered the venue at 6 pm.
For the first time, I didn't print my ticket out. I tried at work, but the printer was down. Instead, I did mobile check-in. The woman with the scanner was doing something odd with my phone screen that I didn't get. She just needed to try a different angle to get her scanner to work. It finally did.
There is a coat check-in. However, you pay something ridiculous for it. Considering that I just spent $20 on parking, I decided to wear my jacket around my waist for the entire night.
Rebel's interior looks all spruced up. I loved how chic the bar areas looked. The lounge chairs looked comfy. The washrooms are spacious, classy, and clean. There are lots of stalls, which I typically complain that there aren't enough at concert venues.
I stood in the second row in front of the stage. Another thing that I don't like about general admission is people who feel that they need to be pressed up to you during the entire show. Look, I am taken. I don't enjoy being on a packed subway train during rush hour and don't want to simulate it at a concert venue.
The evening started with Kindness, a DJ, who did his first set (yes, first), to get the audience going. Next up, Channel Tres sang and danced. I liked them. Kindness came back on. I will admit that I grew tired seeing him again. He was good, but I didn't need two sets.
Finally, after such a long wait, Robyn came on at 9 pm. She did not disappoint. I felt like I could reach over and touch her. I stood at the right place. She was fabulous. I also liked that she invited everyone back on the stage to dance with her.
Toronto was her last North American stop on her Honey tour. She was gracious and seemed incredibly touched when the entire audience sang "Dancing on My Own" without her lifting a finger at one point!
The downside to Rebel is its dancefloor. It's flat, which means that you can't see a thing if someone taller is standing in front of you. There was a guy bumping into my left shoulder blade for most of the night. I finally looked over. He was Chinese and was so short that it was his cap that was hitting me. Hilarious!
My legs felt like Jello after the show. I probably looked odd waddling over to the women's washroom. There were a ton of empty booze cups all on the floor. I will give credit to the venue staff for cleaning them up pretty quickly.
Kris was kind to give me a tip on parking before I got into the venue. He advised that I should leave the show early to get out of the parking lot, as it's horrific with the mass exodus. As much as I wanted to, I wanted to see Robyn till then end.
My tip goes the other way. I was hungry and ended up getting a hot dog at the vendor closest to the parking lot. It was $5 and was delicious. I sat in my car, devoured it, drank my iced black tea, and then pulled out of the lot. It wasn't too bad leaving.
The other tip is that I didn't stay on Cherry Street like most people did. I took Commissioners Street and headed eastbound. It was great!
It's not a horrible venue for a concert. It's also not the best. It's simply okay.

My first impression was not the greatest. They don't open their parking lot until an hour before doors. I wasn't there for early entry, but I'd be even more angry if I was. It should really be an hour before early entry. Street parking is not allowed after 6:00 PM so those people were risking parking tickets. I managed to find a normal parking spot at a business a short walk away without any indicated restrictions.
When I did get in, I was one of the first with mezzanine tickets so I not only had my pick of where to stand, I had time to get an overpriced drink and rest my feet in a booth until more people started filing in.
If you do not get a VIP ticket for the best shot at front row on the floor, mezzanine is the only way to go - especially if you're claustrophobic. I do have a heights issue, but felt secure. It was only about $30 more. The show was sold out so as far as I can tell, they sell just enough mezzanine tickets to allow everyone an unobstructed view. We were not packed in like sardines like people on the floor.
Sound was great.
I do think I ended up with one more wrist band than necessary. They were giving out wristbands for legal drinkers while people were waiting outside, but there's also a wristband for mezzanine, which is already restricted to 19 and over. No biggie. Just something to keep in mind.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aly D.New York, United States435883Aug 23, 2022
I've had multiple experiences at Rebel for many different events. I've been here for regular clubbing nights, Majid Jordan, Solaris, Loud Luxury, Steve Aoki, and more. I would say 3 out of 5 times the floor gets incredibly sticky because of drinks. Entry is easy, fast and organized, which I appreciated.
Rebel has incredible light shows and space. Rebel has about 2 show rooms, a balcony upstairs for VIP and booths towards the back on the first floor. The shows you will go to at Rebel will be an amazing experience since their light show is phenomenal. At Solaris, it was the coolest thing I've ever seen! You will have a great time, and being at Rebel is just a cool experience. It's great for what it is, and everyone in Toronto and the GTA should go at least once for different shows but it rates 4 because of the cleanliness.
One other thing, which might be notable, but obviously not Rebel's fault is that when I was going into the venue of Solaris, my phone immediately "fell out of pocket" or it was taken from me since I did not hear it fall on the ground. This place is a frenzy for stealing so watch your pockets and get a good bag to secure your items!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2828741427Jan 3, 2019
Visited Rebel for the second time to attend the Facebook annual holiday party and had a total blast. I had been once years ago for an Edge concert. It was open bar (of course) and there were food stations set up everywhere. I tried a few items but the highlight for me was the poutine station and Christmas trees decorated with chocolate truffles in the ornaments.
The view of the CN Tower from outside of the club is amazing. I would visit for the Instagram photo opps alone. The space itself is massive, and obviously conducive to concerts, clubbing, etc. The space was very festively decorated for the holiday party with lots of cool places to snap amazing selfies. For the occasion I visited, Majid Jordan were performing and it was awesome.
The bartenders, servers, bouncers I interacted with were fairly friendly so that was a plus. They also had multiple coat checks open which I appreciated to help get peeps out faster at the end of the night.
Will likely return again someday!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 19, 2018
We came for a private event on a Wednesday night. This place is huge!! It is right on the waterfront with a nice view of the Toronto skyline with CN Tower.
There is a stage for the DJ, band or performers. A huge dance floor in front of the stage with many seating areas on the sides and back. Several bars and washrooms.
Coat check at entrance.
Upper level also has a bar, several seating areas and a great balcony to look down at lower level. Outdoor patio on upper level too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
