Sizzle and smoke define Asado Cucina Argentina, the South Sound's only Argentine-themed steakhouse and a staple restaurant of the trendy Sixth Avenue dining district. Heady smoke wafts from the display kitchen where chefs sear beef over a mesquite grill. Low lighting is moody by night, bright and beautiful by day because of the expansive garage doors that roll up in the summertime, spilling diners onto Sixth Avenue. A mural evokes pastoral Argentina. Metalwork and heavy doses of deep-hued wood create a rustic urban palette. Social by design, with a large chef's table straddling the display kitchen. Bench booth seating connects diners to neighbors, but without being overly intrusive. The word "asado" means a gathering of friends for a grill party - the Argentine equivalent of an American patio barbecue - and that theme translates into a convivial gathering spot for friends and family. A steakhouse with a flavor-forward menu with preparations licked with smoke and sophistication.…

It's not necessarily kid friendly. But it depends on the age. It's not a burger place it's a very nice upscale restaurant so, take the wife and have a date night.

My husband and I enjoyed the "Oltre by Asado" experience on Friday night. I was very excited to give this old favorite a try during their 20th Anniversary celebration month and they did NOT disappoint!

We arrived a bit early and enjoyed a classic Godfather cocktail in the lounge before heading in to be seated.

Upon the recommendation of our server, we started off with an order of the grilled sourdough that was served with a honey coriander butter. The bread was slightly smoky from the grilling and the honey butter was the perfect complement.

My husband had the Tagliatelle Bolognese as his main course and I had the wood fired branzino. Both were spectacular.

The tagliatelle was clearly hand made and perfectly cooked al dente, while the sauce was rich, full of flavor and did not overwhelm the beautiful pasta.

My branzino was sweet, tender, with a beautifully charred skin.

We couldn't resist the deep dark chocolate bundino with candied hazelnuts for dessert.

My wish is that they continue to feature some of these beautiful Italian inspired dishes well past January.

At 5pm on a Friday, Valentine's Day, they were already out of Pork chops, their menu did not match their website menu or the listed Yelp menu. In the past we have eaten here on a semi regular basis.
The menu has reduced to a handful of items of which they seem to be constantly running out of featured items. Poorly managed, overpriced, and mediocre food. We won't be back!

Two years later and I'm back with a review update - the five star rating isn't going anywhere, but I've had a couple of new dishes since I originally wrote my first review and I thought they deserved more praise.

My fiance and I have come here for every anniversary and for a Valentines Day or two. It's definitely our favorite spot to celebrate special occasions! The vibe is definitely romantic and it's the perfect spot for a date. The service is also always impeccable and this last visit was no different!

We both ALWAYS order the Pollo Frito Fettucine. It NEVER disappoints and is one of the best pasta dishes I've had anywhere. The chicken is always so delicious and the pasta sauce has a nice kick that really elevates the dish. This last visit, we noticed they had a new Lamb Ragu Pappardelle and we decided to order one of the pollo frito fettucine and one of the lamb ragu and split it so that we could give something new a try. The lamb was cooked SO well and had such great flavor. The pasta sauce didn't beat the sauce of the pollo frito, but it was still really good. The waitress let me know it was a staff favorite and I can see why.

We had mentioned we were in for our anniversary and they treated us to a piece of chocolate cake on the house which was really sweet. We normally don't order dessert, but I'm so glad we got to try this because it was SO good. Super rich and decadent and I would gladly pay for this in the future.

Overall it was a great anniversary date just like every other year, and I'm glad we finally branched out and tried a new menu item. I always forget that they have a daily happy hour - I've heard it's pretty good, so I definitely want to try and make it in for that in the near future at their bar!

Wow, we are from out of town and our daughter took us to Asado for my birthday celebration last night. Easily, our best restaurant dining experience in years.

A mouth watering menu from their delightful cocktails and appetizers to their mouth watering entrees deserts.

The staff were exceptional. Extremely knowledgeable yet personable. A delightful and non-rushed atmosphere.

      Thank you Asado!!!

Last minute decision to go out for a birthday. Too late to get a reservation so the 3 of us opted to sit in the bar. Bar offers full menu service. We decided to get cocktails and shareable foods to eat, as we ventured out rather late in the evening. The crafted cocktails were really good, as well as the menu items we chose. They ran out of glasses for the Pom drop cocktail, so it was served in a much smaller glass. Lil baby glass, but the remainder that didn't fit in the baby glass came to us in another basic glass. Aesthetically kinda weird. We had the street corn empanadas, skirt steak skewer, and a caesar salad. Would've been nice to have more than just 2 empanadas though. Lively atmosphere, would love to come back and try other menu items. Happy hour menu had some good offerings too.

      Cozy atmosphere and excellent server!
Had a reservation so we were seated immediately.
Excellent wine selection, although I got their red sangria. A bit tart, less fruity than most I've had. Will skip it next time and do wine or a cocktail. Mocktail was delicious, tasted like a fancy Hawaiian Punch, so kiddo loved it.
Started with calamari and wedge salad. We thought the salad was a perfect light starter to go with the heavier mains. Everyone liked the calamari, although we all preferred the original aioli to the cilantro one.
Mains: Kiddo had steak frites. Didn't love the butter (was very rich) but finished her steak and there were loads of fries. I had the mixed grill. Chorizo was dry, but shrimp and steak was good. Couldn't finish the potatoes. Hubs got the lamb ragú (red sauce) and it was very good. Home made ricotta was the perfect touch.
Had a comped chocolate dessert for hubbys birthday and also got alfajores because why not! Cake was decadent and rich, and the cookies were light and the dulche de leche was also a mild caramel flavor, which kiddo and I both enjoyed.

If you want a meal that is always a 10/10 I recommend the Lomo w/fig Demi glaze on creamy polenta. Absolutely amazing - large portions and the steak comes with your choice of side.
They also have very good starter salads (the butter wedge is so fresh and delicious) that can easily be shared between two people ($2 splitting fee to have it plated separately).
Good wine list and great cocktails.
The service is always good and they do have a big table for larger groups. Good vibe for all adult age groups - I've even seen families w/kids in here.

This is one of our regular steak places we make our rounds to. Steaks are consistently great and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere is intimate. Service is always friendly. Drinks are good. I don't believe there's a kid's menu so wouldn't recommend for little kids.

I'm blown away that Asado doesn't have a five star rating, because my experience there was worth all the stars. We asked our lovely server Kate for recommendations and she did not disappoint. Everything was INCREDIBLE. The combination of flavors was creative and robust without being overpowering. My favorite dish of the evening was the pork chop with chimmichuri and polenta although it was almost bested by the dulce de leche creme brulee, because it was just that good. Thanks so much for a wonderful evening, we will definitely be back soon!

Just excellent! Our first time and we opted to sit in the bar area and had the most amazing service from Kat. She suggested the empanadas and calamari, both were so good, so fresh and the pairing sauces were perfection. We decided to split a salad and entree. The salad (can't remember the name) but had the herbs, candied walnuts, mango ....yum!! The entree was the papparadelle with beef and lamb, also good but this dish was a little overpowered by the leeks (which we love normally-just a bit much) but not a deal breaker. Ended with the cream brûlée and it was a show stopper. We will be back soon. Thanks Kat for a wonderful night. Appreciate you. Team Candy
